Default Broken Shift Linkage Cable

So I was driving down the street and pretty much gunned it on 2nd gear and as I threw it into 3rd the shifter felt as if it had gotten stuck on that gear and wouldn't go into any other ones. I opened the center console and found the linkage cable had snapped. Has this happened to anyone? If so, where do I start, where should I take it and how much is this going to cost me? I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Depending on your year and mileage, it's quite possible that it will be covered under your warranty.

Snapped, you say. I'd be pretty amazed that proved to be true. I mean, the last foot or so of the cable is solid steel rod-- to break that requires either a defect, or really, really overaggressive shifting. I have an insane leverage-based shifter and I've never harmed a cable.

Start checking the wrecking yards.

I'm running with the Turbonetics kit and installed a B&M short shifter a while back. I'm pretty sure I voided the warranty. But I might as well give it a try.

i had a 2005 Spec v before my TC and had a B&M short shifter. B&M are notorious for snapping cable linkage. Probably one of the worst shifters to own on a car with cable linkage. good luck... you could always try and contact B&M they might do SOMETHING

I don't see how a B&M could break anything in a tC. The throw reduction is so mild. Also, the cable collars usually pop out of the shifter housing before anything fails.

I for one would love to see a picture of this.

Did the same thing to mine about a month ago - labor is insane on this at the dealer. They were trying to rape and pillage me for about 1000.00 in labor and 485.00-ish in parts. I'm going to try and do the install, the entire center console is out now. But we'll see how it goes. I'll post a pic of the snapped cable if you wanna see it.

So, I've looked everywhere for the DIY on this (Google AND ScionLife), couldn't find anything in the forums, except for the words "Uninstall Transmission Control Cable" but for one who's never uninstalled it, and even in the guide on technical guide it's pretty vague. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions on this as far as how to uninstall it? I've already taken out the center console and dismounted the control cable from the shifter, but in the engine bay it seems like theres a rubber stopper holding it in to place and didn't know how to take that off without destroying it. I don't wanna pay that 1000.00 labor charge, so please if anyone has some suggestions, throw them my way. Thanks in advance.
