Default Cable bushings question

To install the cable bushings i noticed everyone had to take out the stock airbox.....if i wanna install the cable bushings do i need to take out of cold air intake? or is there enough room to maneuver around it?

Correct....obviously it's easier without it there but.....no "need" to do so.

They should but if not, I'm sure he supplied the extra parts needed.

i have the doc i bushings and install is super easy. there is plenty enough room to get in there if you have a CAI.

just pop off the pin that's holding the bushings in and take off the old bushing and just insert the replacement bushings and put the pin back in. shouldn't take no more then 5 mins... that is unless your stock bushings are fused on there somehow like my buddies Tim's were.

its easy as cake now go do it!

i lucked out however as mine easily slipped right off with out a fuss.

ok.. i soaked the crap out the the rubber bushings with pb blaster and heated it up with a heat gun (at 1000 degrees) and it did not want to slip out of the steel stud its on. it seems like my last resort maybe to take out the entire piece that the bushing is connected to and try it again or just take it to a mechanic because of my lack of experince of manual transmissions and the fear of messing it up.

what would you guys say would be a good price to be charged if i end up taking it to a shop?

you can try to cut it out with a knife

yea i tried pulling it in all sorts of directions with my hands and basic hand tools, just wont come out. the brass sleeve is way to thick i think to cut with a knife and really dont have any sort of power tools that would do the job.

I have a question for the installer? Why are you trying to remove the stud in the center of the rubber bushing? Do you need that portion to be used with Dr. I's bushing set? If not, the entire bushing should slide out of the cable and then you just install the new ones. I have the NST bushings and I simply removed the rubber bushing, installed that new steel bushing, and cleaned my hands.

Trying to remove that center metal sleeve is nearly impossible b/c the rubber bushing is pretty much heat shrunk to it. Removing the sleeve would require complete destruction of the rubber bushing. Just slide the whole rubber piece out and you'll be done.

i had no problem removing the actual cable, the problem is that the cable slid out but the actual bushing is stuck on the metal stud (which im not trying to remove). the metal sleeve thats in between the rubber does not want to come out, along with the rubber..i had no problem doing that other one, so i know how do it. its just fused together. the metal sleeve has to be removed in order for the new bushing to be installed.
