The answer to your question is... yes... it can make a difference. Probably not a big difference... but none the less. I have heard that people running what is commonly referred to as a "vortex/ Inverted Cone" filter have noticed a different sound than the standard filter for a CAI. This is just because of the physical difference of having the end of the filter open.
here's an example of what I'm talking about thiw one isnt for a tC but its about the same difference:

sorry had to.... you heard your buddy's poo whistle? ...that's an impressive talent.. LMAO...

but as to the rest of your post.... if you both have the same setup, parts and all... it should. Maybe his is doing it more b/c something's not tightened down right...but I'd think he'd throw a CEL if that were the case.... check to see that both of your setups are identical other than having different years of tC's.

haha nah that's not mozilla that's the actual site doing that. no cursing basically cause it will jus change the word automatically. but yeah its ur intake I don't think TRD intakes whistle or if it does its very faint and low. jus change the filter out but not worth it. the TRD filter is pretty solid but if u do go with one go wit an AEM dryflow filter (best there is)

its jus an intake and a whistle doesnt mean much. mines Short Ram with an AEM dryflow and it whistles all the time kinda sounds like a ghetto SC i never really liked the whistle. and 09TRDtc what did u dyno out to? cause i doubt u gained anything serious considering i read ur other thread and u have an auto and autos dyno at 136 ish
