Default Calling all engine guys! Help engine run smooth. Cel!

So I dropped another engine in my '05 tC and getting ready to sell it. I ran into a problem. It seems to be running ruff ant idle and shake.

Codes I get:

P0300
P0301
P0303

I know these are misfires. I flip flopped the coils to make sure it wasn't them and still smae codes. Flipped spark plugs and same codes and just flipped injectors and still same codes.

I know I need a new o2sensor on header but I don't think that would cause misfires in those two all the time.

The spark plugs when I first pulled them looked pretty black on two and clean on the other two. I am using regular copper plugs for know but that wouldn't cause the problem with the misfires in just the same two.

I also had the bottom of my header glow red with heat. I was that could be from the o2.

How could I check the clips to make sure they are working? I did have to reconnect the stock ones cuz I had the bigger injectors.

I also have a walbro 255 fuel pump but again I don't think that would cause misfires in the same two.

PLEASE HELP! I need to get rid of this car asap.

Maybe you timing is off 180 that can cause some problems.

Engine came right out of another stock car that was never touched so timing should be right.

most of the threads i see people doing engine swaps for whatever reason seems to have issues now im not saying your not smart or you dont know what your doing..what i dont understand is when you do swap and have everything hooked up and something isnt runnig right and some other thing isnt the ECU that brain of the engine tells everything what to do

do you have a datalogger? its like a sign of too much ignition retard.. sky rocket egts could glow your headers and those misfires can cause too.. i bet your afrs will be very lean too with the misfires.

Engine is a 05 or 06 (can't remember) and ECU is 05.

Just for info this is a stock engine with no mods whatsoever.

I do not have a data logger.

I should be putting a new o2 sensor in tomorrow and see how much that changes. I'm also gonna throw in stock plugs instead of copper and double check clips and vac lines.

my experience with o2 sensors is that if they are broken the wrong amount of fuel gets sent through into the engine. the ecu just sends a set amount of fuel through. having an upgraded fuel pump can potentially aggravate the problem. i think that the stock plugs are iridium. copper probably wont ignite the fuel mix properly like the iridium will. also when u switch the plugs try clearing the codes to see if the problem follows the plugs themselves. when u flipped the plugs did u put the bad ones where the clean ones where or back into the same spots just switching plugs? if you did the latter nothing would change. if it is backfiring at all( or smells kinda like sulpher) then it is probably running too rich, which can cause the cherry red glow of the headers. gas is igniting in the exhaust(header) and causing a heat increase. again this is from my experiences on my old neon that had similar problems to it.

Before you swap the motor...was the motor in good condition? Like in terms of compression in each cylinder? I had a problem where my car was misfiring and it turns out that one of my coil packs was not getting enough voltage somehow. Check your fuses and if you have a volt meter try to see if your getting power to coil packs.

yes i would concentrate more on the ignition parts.. diagnose your coilpacks, fuses and plugs.. and if you can borrow a scanner datalogger that may help you a lot

Here's what it was...

The o2 was bad which I figured it was. I had a stock header with a working o2 stuck inside with the wires cut. I went ahead and put that header on a spliced the bad o2 wires on to that and saved $200.

The big thing that caused the misfires and shaking was the injector clips. When I put them back on someone suggested to just use butt connectors and I'd be fine (I always solder) so I did and the 1 and 3 cylinder clips had a wire off inside the shrink wrap. So I went ahead and soldered them.

I also changed the injector o-rings cause when I flip flopped them the other day they started to leak so that fixed that.

The car is running smooth with and without the ac on and turning the wheel. I just need to get the interior put back together and a major cleaning and sell it.

It feels so good to finally get this thing done. Some may remember all the crap I went through with this car but it's finally coming to an end.
