Default Calling all Megan Header owners!

I started hearing a rattle the other morning thinking of a heat shield being loose. i get under there nothing is loose. i bang on the exhaust and theres the noise. its inside the exhaust. so i take off the megan header and try to look down the rest of the exhaust trying to find the culprit. so i look at the megan header and the precat is GONE! so right away i knew what it was. i drop the rest of the exhaust and dump it over and the pre cat comes out. anyone else with the problem???? should i address this to megan racing? i wish i bought a alphaworks header!!

You're the first to have this kind of problem w/ the Megan's from what I've seen.

Yes, contact them directly. I'm sure they'll be very interested in checking yours out if this is a R/D problem.

I had this exact same problem. the header was only on the car for about 800 miles or so.

I just dropped by entire exhaust system to find out what was making a rattling sound.. it was about a golf ball size of the cat that was built into the megan header. does anyone know how I can contact megan about this problem? I believe this is why the CEL came on (and I even have the anti-fouler's installed).

i had the same problem yesterday and had a mechanic look up where teh sound was coming from and when he pulled out the exhaust he found chunks of ceramic pieces which he said was coming from the cat on the header. i sent an email regarding this to megan racing so i'm just waiting for a response

A lot of times, the cats used in china for american products are not of good quality.. its a possibility that this is the case with the MR header.

well megan racing responded to my email and this is what they said:
"Hi, we are making new version headers, please contact us in June for a free
replacement. We also plan to make headers without the cat, so this is for
sure won't happen. so, we might have 2 versions. So far if you have seen
all other brands, you should be able to find out the difference between ours
and theirs. None of the headers on the market has a factory style cat
converter inside the header......but seems this is a new invention and new
try, so we have to admit that maybe due to technical problems, the cat might
not last long, but we are trying to fix it now. We will either make a
perfect cat or cat less just like other brands.

Thank you"

At least? Someone in their R&D or QC(Quality Control) departments should have picked up on that problem. Shame on you Megan Racing.
