Default Can I get anyone to donate a stock TC header???

I would be happy to pay full shipping. I am looking to mod the stock header and do some dyno runs to see what gains can be made without the stock cat internals and also to see if the stock cat removed will net the same raspy exhaust note than the aftermarkets are giving us. I will do a full dyno review if I can get someone to donate! Will help everyone out if my theory is correct that a gutted stock header will net within a few hp of an aftermarket and also not be near as noisy....

Sorry guys, I am not interested in paying for the header especially $150 for one! I am looking for a donation so I can get to testing! I would be happy to pay for shipping costs/

hey desertheat. if i do let you borrow my header, would you be able to get it back to me a couple days before the 18th? i'm pretty sure people would rather see what a real dyno says compared to someones opinion.

what all are you gonna do besides gut the car? like port the pipes at all? just curious but im more than willing to let you use mine.

I would have no problem getting it back but it would be quite modified "as in cut open, cat removed etc.." It would no longer be an oem peice. I think I may just start with mine and see how the results turn out. I just was hopeing to fiind someones that they no longer wanted anymore in case the experiment did not go so well. Thanks anyways though!

alrite guys...i put on teh "new" header and with my exhaust still disconnected and CAI there is a noticable sound difference. it is louder but not raspy at all. i'll try to take a vid clip but i don't have the greatest camera. by the butt dyno is helps out and the car doesnt run out of breath as much up top.

I would be very interested in seeing a gutted header with nothing connected to it dynod. If its near the HP of a good header but sounded better I would rip my AW off and sell it. One tip for the dyno run please remove your air box if you do not have an intake! This will be a very close run to those with intakes and S-pipe back set ups with out the mid cat so it would be a VERY GOOD example of how much bling for bumble bee we are paying for. Also if some one does this and will show pics of the car with no exhaust or S-pipe hooked up, showing the gutted cat and no air box while sitting on a dyno with posted dyno sheet I WILL DONATE $25 towards the project/dyno run when proved. You have my word! Just post it and PM me.

I would advise anyone taking the time to cut open and gut the cat to do some serious porting where the pipes connect the the "collector", nasty looking area that certainly needs cleaned up.

I am not sure how a gutting one will sound but it will deffinately be a resonator of sorts and just may do the job of rasp control.

A nice fairly long perforated core resonator (I have used one that was 5" around so had alot of glass in it) can reduce raspiness a great deal as well. I have ran them right after a cat with good results and a well designed one has very little back pressure if any.

I have played the the idea of a short tube turbo manfold, tucked in as close as possible turbo, heat sheild covered, fake gutted cat and sneaky boost side piping to make it look as near stock as possible. I would paint the front of the intercooler black(done that before in So Cal) and use one of the trim panels for the radiator area to hide the top of the intercooler.

Sneaky quiet;)

a little off-topic, but nice idea that a few so-cal guys have probably dreamed-up but never tried. id like to see that stealth setup one day.

i was wonderin it it would be possible to just drill and or chisel out the contents of the cat w/o cutting it open and have to weld it back shut.....
