Default Car won't go over 20 and stalls when rpms are high update code P0103

What's been done removed injen cai and placed stock intake back on.

Alright here's my problem.

Car starts fine but when I get out of the driveway and put it into drive the car is still fine but when I start to gas up to 20 car starts to sputter and if I keep gassing it, the engine will stall. But if I keep the rpms under 2.5k I can drive under 20mph and still keep driving but as soon as i start to rev it more it sputters and stalls out.

Also in neutral or park if i rev it up it also will sputter and if enough will stall.

Anyone ever has this problem?

did you reset the battery, let it run for 5 minutes with no revving......if not then there is the problem, also check to be sure the tube at the TB is not on too far and blocking the butterflys movement, also check the clamps for leaks, also did you un hook the battery before un hooking the MAF.......if not you may have toasted it.......

You can take the car to an Autozone, Checker, etc and ask them to read the code.

Yeah, its probably the MAF

heh, well you could unplug the MAF entirely. If its running just as crappy, that'd suggest the MAF isn't doing a thing for ya

wait so is this safe to try

take off the MAF sensor and start up the car and drive it around the block and see if it is doing the same thing?

yep its safe it will just make u run in limp mode so u will have bad gas mileage and u most likely wont be able to go over 60mph

alright tried your test of unplugging the MAF and let the ecu restart and connected everything back up and still starts up and when reved to higher rpms sputters and will stall if kept at higher rpms. I am going to try it one more time and let it reset for longer and try it later on tonight so i guess it does look like i need a new MAF.

just curious if buying a new maf doesn't fix the problem what else could be wrong

that's not going to work. on the tC, the MAF sensor also incorporates the IAT sensor. with the sensor(s) unplugged, the PCM sees an intake air temp of -40, thus causing an exeedingly rich A/F mixture and stalling out. sorry guys.

^^ alright then is there any other way to test if the MAF sensor has gone bad because while unplugged it still does the same exact thing when connected

absolutely. i'd recommend getting a digital multi-meter and do resistance and voltage drop testing on the MAF/IAT. either/both of those two figures being out of spec can cause air metering problems.
