Default cat back vs axle back

I am not thinking straight (headache), so this maybe a dumb question...

From what I heard and read, it does not make a difference performance wise on either. So why go with a cat back vs axle back?

um...no they are not the same, whether on a tC or on any car. they are exactly as they say, from the axle back (pretty much just a muffler with a little after piping), and from the catback (from the 2nd cat back). Most axlebacks will yield you 3-5whp and most catbacks will yield you 8-12whp. Now, this is not much of a difference...but not the same in any means. Axlebacks still hold back a great deal on the exhaust gases coming out of your engine, whereas the catback will free it up a little more and tend to be a little louder also

uhm no. cat back includes mid pipe. Deeper and louder sound, minimal gains.

axle-back is just the rear muffler/canister from the rear axle to the bumper, doesn't really do anything for power:

and a cat-back is all the piping from the 2nd catalytic converter to the bumper, usually consists of a midpipe and a canister. if you are after performance go with a catback:

the scion tc's exhaust system goes as so:

Header/exhaust manifold --> S-pipe/downpipe --> midpipe --> axle-back/canister.

well our second cat is in the mid pipe thus an axle back on a our cars is basically a cat back

lol yeah thats how GReddy gets away with calling their systems for our cars cat-backs when really they're just mufflers. But in reality, no, an axle back isn't a catback for our cars. You still get more power from a full system as opposed to just a muffler.

yeha its self explanitory, axle back starts at the axle, and goes back. Cat back starts at the secondary cat, actually deletes it, and includes the entire mid pipe and the rest, leaving you with only s pipe and header

Do we have any oxygen sensors nears the cats that we have to worry about if doing a cat-back?

no there is one on the header, and a secondary one on the s pipe, which is a pipe that basically bends up and around the front axle and connects to the mid pipe.

The cat back bolts up to this and replaces everything from the mid pipe back. So there is no sensor on a cat back system
