Default CEL........why

I was in a hurry to get to work today so i was going like 90-110 for awhile maybe 5 to 7 min straight. When i slowed up for a 45 zone my check engine light came on, the car ran fine the rest of the way to work. So i reset the comp at work, started er up and it idle aroun 400 rpm (almost shut off). Kept it running till the temp gauge moved and went to the store 2 miles. It idled low again but didnt shut off, on the way back to work it ran fine when i got to work it was back to the normal idle, and was fine on the way home.

I wonder if it could have been because the air temp outside was 12 degree @ 4:30 am, or from runnin the ____ out of it for a long period of time.

My mods are; MMW header, injen sri, Magnaflow axle back exhaust.

Its runnin normal now

I normaly dont drive that fast but at 430 in the morning the only thing on the road to watch for is deer.

Get the CEL code read, its probably your primary 02 sensor going. A bad prim. 02 sensor will cause the car to run like CRAP

Resetting the ECU is what caused it to run that way. It will relearn after a bit and will idle normal. It will idle lower than normal after a reset and will nearly die at idle. Drive it around for a bit and it will be fine again.

If it comes back on, read the code, or go get it read if you dont have a tool to read it. That is the only way to get an idea of what is going on.

How long have you had the header on? And do you have an antifouler on the 02 sensor, or some sort of sim for it? The header alone will cause an O2 sensor code, and I have heard of it coming and going for some people rather than sticking around all the time.

If you read above, his low idle only occured after resetting the ECU and went away after he drove it a bit. That is completely normal. His issue was that he triggered a CEL, but had no running issue. I am going to venture that it was an O2 related or fuel mixture related code, but there is no way to tell unless it happens again and he pulls the code.

One time i had cel come on the code was a intake air temp code i removed the sensor and wiped it off with some alcohol and a q-tip, and it was covered in a black film. I think the film comr from the oil when i cleaned my filter. I reset the computer and it was fine.

I just checked my intake and everything was tight. I will get the code read before reseting the computer next time.

Would the cold air cause the sensor to read too cold of air in the motor?

Default CEL wont turn off

I tried different ways of resetting the check engine light and it still comes back on. I took of the negative on the battery for about 10 mins and then started my car up and it the CEL light shut off and then it came back on after about an hour of driving. I also tried taking the fuse out in the engine bay and it still did the same thing. Does anyone know where to get the antifouler, from what i heard this is how you reset the CEL light if someone can let me know that would be sweet thanks.
