is there any difference in performance, sound, ect...??

I'm going for the cheap ebay header
( I know i know, first mistake)
and I see a black ceramic one which looks pretty cool and I just wanna check with you guys on the difference from stainless steel ones.


any knowledge/experience??

heres an idea, save your money!

 

x2 and buy something that is worth buying because the ebay headers will crack on you and then you'll be screwed when your car messes up.

 

well even if his header cracked it will just throw a code but a header does not yield any reasonable power gains and just causes rasp. its a waste of money!

 

his car is gonna catch on fire but how sure are you that it doesn't gain anything at all, now to start an arguement about it but it does gain something over nothing and to get rid of the rasp you need a resonator to kill it but going turbo would be the best way to go performance wise because bolt-ons just don't cut it.

thank you for your concern everyone, but here's the thing:

I don't NEED performance out of it. like I know that sounds stupid, but until the far future of when I do go turbo, I just want something that looks a little better under the hood. And yes, I do plan on putting in a resonator in, so rasp isn't too big of an issue.

And if it cracks, I can always throw my big clunky stock one back in.


with that said, does anyone have any preference of ceramic vs stainless steel??

Well I never liked the ceramic coated headers as they just looked bland,but between the two they have no sound or power differance as the inners are the same.Small power gains of a horse or two form most headers at the best.Resonator is needed before you even install,why.........cause it will sound like lawnmower on crack if not.......

If you are putting it on for looks then get a decent brand of header,there are many that are not super spendy,the DME header is about the best for ones that are not spendy,then Megan probably next.

 

If you want something that just looks better under the hood, take off the heat shield, and polish the stock header. It will look as good as any aftermarket header. If you look around (SEARCH), there's a thread on this forum that shows you how it's done.

Very inexpensive (and visually effective) mod, and you won't have to invest in additional resonators.

hey man i used two different ebay headers one was ceramic and one was stainless id go with ceramic because stainless produces higher temps under the hood and also turns into a ugly orange color, and yes i made great power with my ebay header

 

If you plan on going turbo save the money you would be using for the header toward your turbo fund.

well if I ever go turbo, it will be several years when I have another car and the tc can become a project car.

it will not crack u will lvoe it just get a resonator put in the midpipe so u dont sound like a storm of bees

 

it only sounds raspy when you start the car and take off. once its warmed up it sounds better. also it depends on what kind of exhaust your using.

you will get some more hp not much but some. i can tell the diffrence with my car that has i,h,e and the bone stock tc i have.

 

well i guess it's still a piece of crap but i got a megan one instead.

I know I talk bad about something, and then buy it, but its just bad on a scale of good things.

like I wanted a non stock header, so even though they are the crappy ones on the list, they are still above stock, so to me, its still a plus
