$70 for labor but not parts sounds about right
if you ever plan on putting a head on your car, buy a universal 2.5" center in/out resonator (glasspack) and put that in line.
and if you're worried about carb, put on a high flow catalytic converter

no, he said $70 for labor and parts.
and glasspack?!?? why would you want one of those? that'd make yer car sound horrible, plus they go bad in a couple of months.
Glasspack mufflers can be used as resonators if they have a perforated core, not a louvered core. The louvers create turbulance and impede exhaust flow thus causing less power. A resonator is basically there to keep the resonances down inside the car and they typically quiet down the exhaust note as well. If you are putting on a header, you better add one, or it will sound like bees in a tin can...plus inside the car will be an annoying droning sound.
Basically a glasspack is a perforated pipe the diameter of the inlet and outlet with fiberglass woven all around between that perforated core and the outside case. The fiberglass packing (glasspack) absorbs sound. Newer glasspacks do not have the problem of burning and blowing out like the old ones did, so you can be sure it won't burn, settle, or blow out if you buy one of any quality (Magnaflow, Thrush, etc...). Any exhaust can be tuned to the note you want with a little work. The size of the resonator, the length of the muffler, etc will all determine the exhaust note. The diameter of the pipe changes it also. There is a lot more to it, but for now I leave you all with the above information.
Ok, and here is a good article to get you all started on building a good sounding exhaust
