Clicking noise during acceleration
Lately ive noticed that when im accelerating hard i can hear a clicking noise that comes from the passenger side engine bay. I can only hear it when the radio is off and when my windows are rolled up. It doesnt seem to be all the time either. I recently had an agency power crank pulley installed. Im wondering if this would cause this clicking noise. If i can describe it, it sounds sorta like when your a little kid and you put a card in the spoke of your bicycle. Again, its not really that loud and i can only notice it when im gassing it but i want to know if this is normal at all? Do any of you notice this sound? Any ideas what it could be? Thanks
Hmm, i think it may actually. Thats usually when i notice it first but then it does also when im going straight. Its not all the time like i said.
It didnt start right after the pulley install. I just noticed it maybe a week or two ago and i got my pulley installed about a month ago.
I also had someone press on the gas while the car was parked and looked under the hood to see if i could hear anything or notice anything weird withe pulley but it seemed fine.
Clicking noise, worse under acceleration while turning, sounds a lot like you have a CV joint going. Hard to say without being there to hear/drive it, but it fits the description.
Look at the boots on your CV joints (rubber boots around the flexible portion of your axle shafts) to see if one is cracked and has grease on the outside of it. That is a sure sign that the joint is dry/dirty and is damaged due to that. However, they can start dying without the boot being cracked as well.
Should be able to get a new axle for one side for about $80ish. I know my dad can get them at his cost for $65.00 new back home, but that is at a shops cost, so it will be a bit more for you most likely.
But check it out first and make sure that is what it is, since I am just going by the description you are giving. If it is that, fix it soon, because if it finally comes apart, you will be stuck on the side of the road.

Yea dude i think ur probably right. I looked at the cv joint on both sides and on my front right passenger side it seems to have grease all around it.
I just drove it for a while with no radio on and windows rolled up. It didnt do that faint clicking sound for a little while but after about 15 minutes i started to notice it. Ill get it checked out...Thanks for the help.
When the boots get cracked, they grease comes out of the joint and dirt gets in. Only a matter of time till the joint starts to die.
If you catch it visually before all the grease comes out, you can most times just replace the boot. However, for about $25 - $30 for the boot and the time to take the shaft out, dis-assemble it and replace the boot (requiring the right clamp tool), you can usually just spend $80ish for a whole new shaft and spend half the time replacing it
But in this case, if that is what your noise is, the joint is dead and its time for a new shaft. So in that case... you really are going to get the shaft
