Default Code Reading Software For a Laptop?

Does anyone know of some software and a cable to connect the tC up to a laptop to scan the codes? I'm working on a tC with header and the CEL is on (I tried the antifouler trick and it didnt help).

did you disconected the battery for at least 5 min after the fouler trick? also you might have to drive it a bit for it to come off after disconecting the battery.

yup. it came back on after 30 miles, and hasnt turned off since. I have seen "wide band" O2 sensors around. Ya think that might help?

Are you sure the CEL is still due to the headers. The antifowler trick might have worked and the CEL could be something else. You can pick up a OBDII reader from ebay for about $35-$40. The ones I've seen that connect to a laptop uses a USB and/or serial connection and run about +$150.
