Default Cold air intake BS!!

I go to my dealer and i order the AEM intake for my tc. They say they can get it in two days. 3 days later, They say it was deleted from there system. I don't understand how one day you can order it very fast and the next day you cant even get it. BS. I just want to get more power out of my car without voiding my warranty. I got the exhaust and don't know what i can do about a intake. Scion needs to make sure all the dealers are on the same page. Scion also should not say you can upgrade at anytime because they dont have any Performance parts and i want to upgrade. Its BS! if you have any idea's HELP!! RS1 #611

get yourself an intake NOT from a dealer... there's injen and K&N (i have the K&N) that's out and alot of people are happy with them...

actually.. when you're upgrading ANYTHING.. don't get it from a dealer... it's cheaper on the outside. (i made that mistake... )

the AEM has been delayed for almost an entire year i'd say.... i just said screw it and bought me the K&N. if you need any more help just write me a pm.

one of the major reasons i bought a scion was i could upgrade them later and not void my warranty. Well i guess that means upgrade with lights. I want some more power and i am getting a game. Dont get me wrong i love the car. Its just all these games with the add ons. The supercharger wont be out at that pace untill 2007.

Simply adding an aftermarket intake will NOT void your warranty. If you have an engine failure, the dealership must have substantial proof it was the intake's fault.

Just go online and buy one they all get the same results. Pick the color you want is about the only difference. Put it on yourself and save some money. It is pretty protected inside your fender so it would be hard to get water in there unless its very deep in which case you shouldnt drive through it anyways. If you drive through that deep of water you will damage other things too and they will void your warranty. Pretty much just do it and dont worry and it will be fine.

I doubt you will have any warranty issues with ANY of the aftermarket intakes out there.

if the aftermarket product was proven that it caused damage to the car, then it voids warrenty, that's what i heard

Also if you have them install the part for you, then it also wouldn't void the warrenty. installing aftermarket your self increase chances of voiding warrenty if installed improperly

Theirs a sticky on here somewhere with the actual law to it..
Noone can void your warranty. they just wont do the repair under warranty...but your warranty is still in place for the life of it

They also work with Toyota's engineers to make sure its a good product for your car. These other companies also have a good products too.. but i bet they didn't have a toyota engineer giving them information.

Check SEMA's website for thier fight with auto manufacturers about what can and can not void a warrenty. This has been an ongoing battle between the two.

i think u care about that warrantee too much.

A: u have to do quite a bit to void the warrantee
B: something has to go wrong to void ur warrantee
C: its a toyota. you're not gonna be using that warrantee

Thats right.. you add an aftermarket part, it breaks something else.. and you surely wont be using your warrranty, you will be paying out of pocket. you add a trd part and it breaks something else you are covered, EVEN if the part caused the issue. So if you add an aftermarket turbo that is improperly designed, it blows your manifold or tears up something else and YOU pay to fix it. You add the TRD SC (if it ever comes out) and it blows your motor THEY pay to fix it because it falls under warranty. I think I am personally leaning towards aftermarket turbo, but it will be an added risk to my wallet.

It all depends on the part and the risk to your car. Also, if you do all of your own work the cost impact is not as bad if you tear something up...

That warranty act is great... but read through the whole thing. It is pretty vague in many parts and many dealers DO get away with not warrantying things that should still be covered. It has happened to 2 people I know.

I like aftermarket (except when I get a huge deal on OEM), but I still recognize the risks.

Thats a good why of looking at it. I just know i pad extra to get a 8 year 100,000 mile warranty and i dont wanna waste money there. I just wish that scion held up there part by really allowing you to upgrade your car. Thats what the company is about and right now i cant. But i do love my Tc.
