Cold Air Intake Question
Before i get flamed, i promise have searched for this.
I am planning on getting the AEM Cold Air Intake system and installing it in my '06 tC. I wanted to know a few things:
- Will installling this void my warranty in any way?
- Is it street legal in California, and if not, how severe is it to have one?
- Can you reccommend any tips to a newbie such as myself?
- And finally how noticable are the differences after installing the cold air intake?
any feedback would be awesome

If you just search "cold air intake" you will find a wealth of information. and answers to your questions. just have to do a little work. I think you will find answers in the FAQ about warranties.
Here's a step by step walk through for you and it was done by kids. Warranty can only be voided if they can prove(in a court of law) the aftermarket part caused the problem.

It is illegal in cali, if you get pulled over and a cop has u pop ur hood..to the impound yard it goes.
the only noticeable difference is the sound...loud and throaty in the engine bay with a slight whistle

They will not impound the car for a intake. It is not that loud. I have it w/ the DC Sports Axle Back + the DC Sports Header. Sounds more aggressive yes, but you're not going to wake up people from the grave. AEM is very conservative when it comes to mass producing products. Good company, good staff.
I'm not saying they will impound it, but they can. As of March 1st in California, they passed a few "street racing" regulations and, if any non CARB legal parts are found on ur car, it will be impounded at the owners expense. Some cops are jerks and will ask u to pop ur hood even if u just have exhaust and some really don't care, but the possibility is that they can

NO CAI is CARB exempt...some are CARB legal...but not yet on our car
Also, i don't see how it can be 50 state CARB exempt or legal since CARB is ONLY in California (California Air Resources Board)
No more Ebay purchases please
Many of the AEM Intakes are "50 states" legal such as 1994-01 Acura Integra. Dodge Neons, Mazda Protege and many more. I don't remember the last time a cop will impound a car for having minor mods such as an intake. Yes, the possibility is possible that police officers can do anything. The law passed Jan 1, 2006. The box does say 50 state legal on AEM intake box. They have a disclaimer inside stating which make and model is legal or not.
