Default Coolant change - what to do to with green coolant?

Hi all,

I purchased a 2005 Scion tC about 10 months ago. The car currently has 154K on it. I知 concerned because I noticed that the coolant in the reservoir has a very dark tint to it. As far as I can tell, the last time the coolant was changed was nearly 60K miles ago.

I知 planning to drain and change the coolant. I pulled off the radiator cap and found that the stuff that痴 currently in there is green! So, I知 wondering if it makes sense to flush and go back to Toyota Red, or just stick with the green as the car is so old.

If I were to change the coolant to Toyota Red, what would you recommend I do to make sure there isn稚 too much green coolant left in the system?

Thanks!

Remove it all and put in the Red Toyota coolant. Flush it with either extra coolant or distilled water to get the green stuff and all it's residue out. I'd recommend changing the thermostat too as I doubt it was ever replaced, judging by the coolant that is in there. Do that and you should be good for 50k at least, as far as the cooling system goes.
