Default Crank pulley

My primary concern is the fact that we all have heard of light weight crank pulleys doing engine damage to to vibrations. Has anyone opted to simply get their current crank pulley lightened? If so where did you do it and what type of gains did you see?

I doubt youd be able to get much out of that. The factory piece is either steel or iron which is inherently heavier than aluminum so you would have to remove A LOT of material and that may seriously effect the strength of the part.

Yeah I dont think itd be an easy job. I can tell you now though that Ive gone over 10k miles with my pulley and havent noticed any negative effects at all. Perhaps it takes longer but I feel as though something may have gone wrong already with the way I drive my car.

I have seen no reason to worry about any of my cars over the past 5 or 6 years with pulleys. My close friends and I have had NST pulleys on our cars ranging from turbo civic, to n/a scions with no problems. I have probably gone past 75,000 miles now with no bottom end trouble of any kind! There is no way I'm going back to stock

If the pulleys are built well, meaning they are properly balanced and tested, then yes there are very nice results to be had.

Light weight pulleys increase throttle responce, and lightweight underdrive pulleys increase acceleration AND add power to the wheels. NST pulleys do both

Do a quick search around here for NST pulleys and you'll find a whole lot of info on them. They are very highly recommended around here.

I've been considering this issue also. After listening to both sides of the argument my conclusion is this.

If haulin @$$ is your priority : Get the pulley
If reliability is your top priority :Don't

NST pulleys are best because
1 cheaper
2 anodized
3 underdrive

I just put on the agency-power pulley, VERY NICE. I had it anodized blue (accent color in the engine compartment).

Instant gain, no downside, totally worth the money!
