Default CreativeCompacts.com Full Cat Resonator, Hi-Flo, Borla

I'm setup with:

K&N Typhoon
MMW Header & S-pipe
and the above mentioned exhaust system (duh)

These clips REALLY don't do it justice, but here are a few:

Turning the car on & a few revs:

http://media.putfile.com/Start75

In car windows up normal start to 40mph 2500rpm highest:

http://media.putfile.com/Scion-05499

In car windows up fast start 1st & 2nd near redline:

http://media.putfile.com/Scion-056

Outside of car, pulling away, fast start:

http://media.putfile.com/Scion-057

Drive by 3000rpm in 3rd:

http://media.putfile.com/Scion-059

Drive by across the street 4000+ rpms, probably in 4th:

http://media.putfile.com/Scion-060

Pulling in little gas while driving by:

http://media.putfile.com/Scion-062

Start, easy in first, then start gassing it....probably the best vid:

http://media.putfile.com/Scion-063

Ummm.....I think that's it. Oh:

My g/f will be getting the same exhaust on her fully STOCK car maybe next week. It was supposed to be done yesterday but my friend's garage manager was in on his day off and we couldn't do it :\

I'll post those when I get the chance. Enjoy

I like how clean the sound is, but Im not really liking the tone. It seems like its really loud too. Either that or the sound is echoing off the walls. It could be the video though.

it's sort of both. I need somethign to record sound correctly
for you to get a good idea. Maybe some sort of viedo camera instead of this anus quicktime digi cam.

I'll look into it....

ive just done the entire I/H/E set-up myself... but im gonna add a resonator on my midpipe, because its embarassingly raspy... i got the midpipe (straight) and axel back done, but im not posting any sound clips intill i get that resonator put in... actually i could post videos but itll have poor resolution since im using a camera phone....

i should get this done within a few days... and you guys are gonna be suprised what kind of axelback i got.... so ima keep quiet....

if this resonator completes my exhaust (tone wise) then this topic should be called "successful I/H/E set-ups (sound wise)" LOL

i'd suggest a hi-flo cat to lose the rasp, not the resonator.

CC.com even says you should if you have an aftermarket header unless you like rasp. They also said that about the Flowmaster muffler creating tons of rasp too...

Yeah, that will work out. Only thing is that I work in Irvine, so it would probably have to be done at night....unless of course you're near the spectrum.

Power-wise, how does the old butt-dyno feel? Any plans for an official dyno?

it feels like there's more power, but there's no official dyno as of yet.

I'm too broke and need to recover first.....

creative compacts has a dyno showing 12hp gains. Somebody at yoursciontc.com has a dyno showing 3hp gains. Both of these were with the cat and without the resonator.

i doubt it it gains less then 5hp, possibly 5-10hp... i got my custom mid-pipe done with 2.25" piping and the axelback is 2.5", overall the performance felt like my DC header just added 2 times more power then it usually is....

Now my first gear tops at 32mph!!! but its ridiculously loud

i think either way is acceptable... either put in a cat or resonator, but hi-flow cats will most likely clean out the rasp and resonators have a less chance in completely clearing the rasp....

performance wise, resonators have a better flow than cats... but i guess its barely noticable.... i dont have a resonator put on mines yet but this thursday im gonna put it in.. resonator costs 75 dollars total and catalyics are 165 total, i think the price is BS with the cat converter. My city doesnt even do emission testings, tho its illegal to remove the cat converter! boy i love personal owned businesses, they dont give a F*CK! just keep it on the hush

CC.com quoted "For customers running a Aftermarket Header, you may also consider our Resonator to help mellow out the raspy sound that is often produced by the headers on the market."

oh whoops, i thought they said the cat over the res. I always assumed the resonator was more for keeping the sound down.

Also, I finally got the same exhaust on my girl's auto with no other mods. I would have recorded a sound clip, but I don't think there's any sound even coming from the exhaust!

It literally just sounds stock minus a barely audible low growl. You hear in more in cabin vs. out of it. It's nuts.

im thinking of getting this setup. i already have the cc catback with the borla muffler. no res and no hiflow cat. think im gonna get both in this coming week but well see.

I'd highly advise on a resonator at the same time you get the header....as mentioned by others above, the rasp is incredibly loud....

Your vids sound good. The only thing I don't like is the tip of the exhaust pipe. Looks like a can on the back bumper. Sticks a little to far out for my taste. But it adds power and sounds good, so I guess that's what really matters.

PS...Nice color choice. BCP represent!

Yeah. I sort of feel the same way, but it only seems to stick out far depending on the angle that you see it at. Other times it seems to be the perfect length, it's wierd. Maybe I'll post a bunch of tip shots...
