Default DC race header w/ stock exhaust

Hey whats goin on guys, I have an 07 TC that i jus picked up a couple weeks ago. Anyway I picked up some springs an di got a good deal on the race header,. A buddy and I installed the header yesterday and I am really shocked at how horrible the sound is...It sounds like theres a leak...but damn Evereything was installed correctly. I am using stock exhaust my buddy said if i got a different exhaust it would help alot. What do you guys think, like the car is literally embarrasing for me to drive it is realllly loud and has like deisal sound. Any advice or anything would be appreciated. Thank you.

i have the exact same header and aftermarket exhaust. you WILL need a res if you want to quite it down. it really helps a lot. i had no res for about two weeks and i was so paranoid i was going to get pulled over and i sounded like a straight up ricer. but you can get an aftermarket res on your stock exhaust if you would like and it should quite it down. the bigger the better man, or try to invest two smaller ones for a deeper tone.

no, the header design was not changed. Every header is going to have rasp...its the just the noise of the engine reverberating and echoing down in the midpipe...which is why there is a stock one on the mid pipe already. However aftermarket ones are better for getting rid of rasp since the stock one isnt all that great.

ya just get an aftermarket one, you won't go wrong there and it will dramamtically help with that rasp even if you do or dont want a put an aftermarket exhaust on your car.

Ok so i bought an axle back exhaust today and it helped a bit, i think maybe an S-pipe would help with the sound as well too. because the stock s-pipe seems to be really narrow.

Yeah the stock s-pipe is THE most restrictive part of our whole exhaust system...except the cats, but its not going to do so much for your rasp. An aftermarket resonator will help with that.

Any good sites I can pick up an aftermarket resonator? Do Resonators restrict any air flow?

theres two types of resonators I think...theres flow through designs and then others, not sure what they look like or called, but flow throughs get rid of rasp but don't hamper your performance. AR25 from aeroexhaust.com is a flow through and supposedly a good resonator at getting rid of rasp. I'm planning on putting it on my setup by the end of next month so I don't sound like a bumble bee anymore

how do i know if i have an exhaust leak? I recently installed my dc headers, megan mid pipe, megan s pipe, had trd exhaust but was to loud so went with stock exhaust for now. After installed, "2 weeks now" i still have a strong exhaust smell. Dont know if its burning the gas properly. Its a new tc and new parts. Or is this normal because my car has no more cats?

by stock exhaust do you mean you put everything back on that was stock after the s-pipe??? I have the DC header, I do have an exhaust leak in one of my midpipe clamps and it makes it smell when its sitting still.

Well, everyone has their version of "strong" but mine didn't smell when I had the leak and stock header, and then when I put on my header I noticed it and its got to be from the lack of the Cat. So I'd say its normal. Once I get mine welded up, there wont be anymore leaks and I shouldn't notice the smell as much since it will go to the rear of the car instead of the middle of it. Your in So. Cal too so dont they use a sniffer in the tailpipe for your smog test?
