Default did NST send me the wrong pulley???

i bought the NST crank pulley and had it installed on saturday. now the belt is "shredded" on one side and looks like it's not wide enough. i bought the size NST has on their website. also, i notice that the pulley has 5 "ridges" while the rest of the accessories have 6 "ridges" . . . wtf?

You were supposed to get a different belt before you installed that pulley. The belt size is listed on the website.

How many ridges are on the belt you brought?

ok, i think i may have figured it out. . .
the new pulley can have 5 ridges while the rest of the system 6, if the new belt also has 5 (which it did) and it's aligned so that it sits properly on the new pulley, which in turn leaves an empty ridge on the outside of the rest of the system.
too bad toyota aligned it so that the empty ridge was on the inside of the system, causing the edge of the new belt to ride on the outside on the new pulley.
i hope all that makes sense.

yup, this did not happen to me, but i think the mechanic installed the belt in the inner ridges leaving the one outside emptied ! i believe it was like this.

Proper installation by your mechanic or yourself.

what i was told by nst is that nobody made a 6 rib belt that small to utilize the under drive. so they went to the 5 because belts are more readily avail.

ok, so i bought another belt and the service manager @ Toyota put it on. the belt walked itself over on the alt, ps, and water pulley. but it's situated correctly on the crank and seems to be holding. i guess the first guy just didn't notice that the belt wasn't all the way on the crank the first time.
this is what i get for not doing it myself. . . i need to get my own impact wrench. . .
