I'm having a issue started out with a little rough idle sometimes about 4 months ago would come and go so figured it was just a little water in the gas now my car want pull its self in level ground bucks misfires and when I try to accelerate it sounds like backfire in the intake can smell gas and I noticed today the manifold
area was hot and I didn't go more than half a mile but I figured it would be from the bucking and misfiring noticed my plugs are a little wet on ends and some gas smell I'm figuring coil packs have gone bad car has 110k on it. By the way I keep the oil changed and clean but haven't had to replace anything much yet.

I'm not much of a mechanic so any info for me to start checking out would help a lot much appreciated.

Have you checked to see if you have any trouble codes? You may have a failing coil as you mentioned.
