Whats the advantage of the black bushing? If it comes with the red one then why not just leave it in place?

yah btw u have to open the damper up to get to the red bushings if u didnt know. i figure ill switch out the black after some driving to see if i notice a difference. atm i feel that shifting is much smoother.

The ETD is pre-loaded with the RED bushings. Open it up and use the black ones if you plan to do mostly city driving.

Thanks again everyone, good luck and have fun with all your projects!!!

DME offers you two sets, to offer you a choice to customize your ETD for your driving preferences. Some people prefer the tightest settings possible and may want to track their cars often. Others use their cars as daily driven cars and prefer a softer ride. You can use either the red, or the black, to set up your ETD to your liking.

Enjoy

actually breaking the mounts or just the bushing is broke?? I am sure this would help quite a bit but you could also do polyurathane bushings for your motor mounts...

not trying to hijack the thread, just trying to help turbo51,,,

I just ordered my DME engine torque damper from NST. I hope it doesn't vibrate too much. My friend said that it might help to use dynamat to help with the vibration, but I don't know?

hmm so far i dont think it vibrates much but interior cabin noise has increased. its kinda like a speaker for your engine.

if it is just cabin noise then I can deal with that. My exhaust and radio can take care of that. LOL

Do you think an auto tC could benefit from a engine torque damper?

it helps to minimize the amount of movement that the engine makes when accelerating and shifting. Which in turn helps put more power to the ground.

The easiest way to illustrate what this does is to start up your car, pop the hood, and have a friend get in the car. Stand safely out of the way and watch the engine as he revs the car. You will see quite a bit of motion in the engine because of the torque. What the torque dampener does is attaches the engine to the passenger side upper shock mount. There is a little bit of "give" in the ETD, but it greatly limits the front and backward travel of the engine. This translates to less wheel hop on hard launches, improved shifting, and better "feel" of your engine.

I installed an engine dampener on my car a while back and absolutely love it. I take my car to the dragstrip occasionally and I couldn't believe the difference the ETD made. I used to wheel hop like mad off the line, but had none whatsoever with the ETD installed.

Another big improvement I noticed was more precise shifting. Because the engine doesn't move as much, my shifts were much smoother and went into gear better. It is worth the little bit of vibration noise I get. Even the fiance got used to it pretty quick and is thinking about getting one for her xA.

If you want your car to shift quick and smooth, be sure to get the torque dampener along with stainless steel bushings from NST. Those two things will do a great deal in improving the feel of shifts as well as keeping wheel hop down and allowing you "feel" the engine revs better.

Yeah, I have the metal bushings in mine and those by themself made a difference in the shifting. I am still waiting for my ETD, but I guess thats what I get for waiting so late to x-mas to order it. lol
