Do I have a bad maf
Hola!
I've had a problem with my tC for the last 24 hours...it started happening last night while I was driving...I was on cruise control, and then the engine just kinda "seized", my headunit reset, and then the engine kicked back in and it kept going. Didn't happen again.
This morning, started the car, started driving, got pulled over, and then when I was trying to leave being pulled over, the car would start, and then 2 or so seconds later, the engine would just kinda die... It took 5 or so attempts, and then it stayed on....
Later on in the day I tightened one end of the maf down, checked the vac line connection and then put all the wires in.
I ran a few tests, turned it on, did shift into d, and it was fine. Then I rolled it back, turned it on again, and then put it into d, and again, it was fine...
Can anyone else confirm if this is the sign of a bad MAF? I don't have a cel
Can the dealer tell if my MAF is about to go out?

Doesnt even sound close to a MAF issue based on the description. The fact that your radio went off tells me you have an electrical issue. Start by checking all connections to the battery (and cleaning them). My first guess would be a bad ground, but without being able to look the car over it is hard to tell.
Ok, thank god, I didn't think it was maf related, but then someone said something about safe mode...and I was freakin out
I checked the connection to the battery, from the main wire, and it's in there pretty good, are there any places to check

Ok, So i tried to turn my car on yesterday, and nothing happened at all, electrical system worked, but no starter sounsd, no nothing. I pulled the battery terminal off, then put it back on, and the car started fine.
It did the rev fall and electrical reset on the way to where I was going.
When I was leaving the place I drove to, it died as I was in D for around 10 seconds.
I checked all of my grounds, and they are fine. I retightened the wires, and the car started fine, I'm going for a drive later, so I'll see if it does it again.

Maybe an alternator issue? I had a failing alternator on my Passport years ago and the car would barely operate. The gauges would go out but I could crawl from place to place. Had to get it jump started every time I cut it off.
Yeah dude, it really sounds electrical, maybe a relay is trying to kick and kills the engine. But you do have a mess of electrical stuff on your car. My tuck did that but it was the O2 wire melting to the header, and poping a fuse. Look for any shorts. If you need some help I can help you some time try to find it. MAF you would prolly experience hesitating problems, and rough idle.
ok, if you have a DMM just start poking around at things.
electrical issues are the worst because they are so hard to diagnose, especially over the internet.
also, id recommend taking all your relays out of the fuse box (one under the hood) and checking them, its extremely easy to do. if you dont know how you can find alot of videos on youtube that show you.
pay special attention to the relays for your fuel pump and your ignition.
thats where i'd start...
