Default Dr. Isotope Short Throw Shifter

I have been researching the shifters and I think I'm going to go with a Dr Isotope short shifter. Here's where I get confused. I want to get teh full 50% throw reduction but I don't want a shorter shifter length. I can't figure out what package I need to get. I don't have an issue with doing the project myself but I'm just not sure which is the right one. Can someone please let me know which I need? Sorry for a known repeat question, but search for Dr Isotope and see how many results you get Also, what is the "core"? Just the actual metal shaft?

---------Options---------

1. The GearSwitcher Plus. This includes a 50% throw reduction shifter, new crosspin washer, shifter cage riser bushings, and longer bolts for the shifter cage. The cage bushings are solid delrin, which greatly improves shifter feel, and raise the shifter cage 0.6", reducing shift effort. Click the link below and process payment for $115 through Paypal (includes $40 core fee), we'll send you a GearSwitcher, ready to install. After installing the shortened shifter, mail us your stock shifter, and we'll return the $40 core fee to your Paypal.

2. The GearSwitcher Premium. This includes a 50% throw reduction shifter, new crosspin washer, shifter cage riser bushings, longer bolts for the shifter cage, and solid delrin shifter cable bushings. The cage bushings are solid delrin, which greatly improves shifter feel, and raise the shifter cage 0.6", reducing shift effort. The cable end bushings are solid, replacing the OEM rubber bushings, and result in a tremendous change in shifter feel. Click the link below and process payment for $135 through Paypal (includes $40 core fee), we'll send you a GearSwitcher, ready to install. After installing the shortened shifter, mail us your stock shifter, and we'll return the $40 core fee to your Paypal.

3. The GearSwitcher Ultimate. This includes a 50% throw reduction shifter, new crosspin washer, shifter cage riser bushings, longer bolts for the shifter cage, solid delrin shifter cable bushings, and a custom delrin shiftknob and matching collar (your choice of Type R, Nismo, Waisted, Pineapple, Wasp, or Doc's Choice). The cage bushings are solid delrin, which greatly improves shifter feel, and raise the shifter cage 0.6", reducing shift effort. The cable end bushings are solid, replacing the OEM rubber bushings, and result in a tremendous change in shifter feel. Click the link below and process payment for $170 through Paypal (includes $40 core fee), we'll send you a GearSwitcher, ready to install. After installing the shortened shifter, mail us your stock shifter, and we'll return the $40 core fee to your Paypal.

4. The GearSwitcher Extreme. This is beyond even the ultimate package. It contains everything listed in the Ultimate, and comes completely finished and mounted in a shifter cage, ready to install. No cutting or hammering required. Just drop it in. Click the link below and process payment for $270 through Paypal (includes $80 core fee), we'll send you a complete GearSwitcher Extreme, ready to install. After installing the Extreme, mail us your stock assembly (complete), and we'll return the $80 core fee to your Paypal.

5. The GearSwitcher Extreme... Lite! This is the Extreme package, minus the shiftknob. Everything else is the same as the regular GS-EXT package. Click the link below and process payment for $230 through Paypal (includes $80 core fee), we'll send you a complete GearSwitcher Extreme, ready to install. After installing the Extreme, mail us your stock assembly (complete), and we'll return the $80 core fee to your Paypal.

you can get either of the kits, jsut dont do any hight reduction, i say package 1 or 2 would be your best bet as you wont be lowering the shifter height.

all else fails drop dr. isotope a line

and personaly thats the shifter i went with, with a 2.5 in hight reduction and love it

Are the cable end bushings really worth the extra $20? And maybe this is what I don't understand - with each kit you can decide how much you want to shorten the shifter?

yes, each kit has 50% throw reduction and you just tell the Doc what height reduction you want.
The bushing are Def worth it!
5 min install and the shift are so much crispier, i was amazed at the improvment.

i got the gearswitcher extreme with a 2 inch reduction just because it made the intall faster and easier.

awesome, easy mod, you def. wont regret it!

He can do it however you want it for the most part, just shoot him a line and ask. The cable end bushings make for very crisp shifts, I love mine.

The core is indeed your stock shifter. He re-tools the stock shifter to make his (in my opinion, there is no better way to do it) so he gives you some cash back for your stock shifter once you send it back to him.

o, and the core fee is whatever you take off.
send it back to Doc and hell refund you some of your money.

so 1-3 is just the metal shaft.
4 and 5 are the whole white cage assembly.

Can you send a picture?? I'd really like to see it. And is there a huge difference between the drop and no drop? For example, I don't like how it looks here. I liked the "flush" look that you have when it's stock...

Doc I's gearswitcher is definatly one of my favorite mods that I've done. I got a 2" height reduction and love it and the cable bushings are completely worth it, they make a huge difference. Heres a crappy pic of my shifter:

Doc I's short shifter ftw! Probably still one of my favorite mods. Here's a crappy pic of mine also to give you an idea. 2" reduction seems to be the most common...

I got the extreme with the 2" drop and one of doc's shift *****. The bushings make a huge difference in the feel of the shifts and I highly recommend this upgrade!
