seriosly my car has been consuming oil like it was beer....i need help...my car has also been smelling everytime i step on da gas...any suggestions on where to look or how to solve this problem?

 

Just have to ask this.. Have you checked your oil cap ? make sure it is on .. Have you gotten any check engine lights ?

 

And how much constitutes "drinking" oil? The manual says up to a quart is normal per oil change I think.

 

like beer man, drink it, not sip like coffee, if its drinking it it has to be ____ing it out somewhere

 

first off how much oil are you losing.. plus any mods? and what does the smell, smell like??

 

if youre using that much oil youve got to have a blue smoke,im voting for tore up rings or mis-aligned oil cap

 

i have headers and intake...and it smell like exhaust fumes...im losin about 2-3 quarts...and der are no blue smoke...no smoke at all

 

Any oil in the engine bay? Is the breather tube hooked up to the intake?

 

mine loses oil every 5k miles(every oil change) depending on the driving conditions if I beat on it or not. it vary's from a quart to a quart and a half/two, always mid way at 2500 miles or so.

but my car has 113k miles so I figured its old age too, but it has happened ever since I've owned my car, I remember reading it was due to the lack of oil squirters that the 05-06 lack.

I also have i/h/e but I don't smell the exhaust fumes that u speak of unless I seriously beat the ____ out of my car which isn't often.

jon, the manual says a quart is normal?? I don't even have the manual anymore, if its normal I have nothing to worry about lol

 

yea everything is hooked up...and der is no oil in da engine bay...

 

didnt you just install a New header? that could be the smell your thinking about since its brand new and still adjusting.

 

installed it about a month ago...and ive been smellin the fumes before the headers...wen i installed da headers the smell just got stronger....

Could the smell be from oil leaking somewhere in the engine bay and burning up? Ever notice any oil stains under the car?

 

Yeah it says 1.1qt per 600 miles is normal. But if you're consuming that much you should keep an eye on it to make sure it stays full until the next oil change.

well, first things first. when you start your car on a cold start are you getting an excessive amount of smoke? (only on cold starts) also, if you disonnect your pcv hose from the intake is there any oil mist coming out while the car is idling?

 

Sounds like a leak somewhere.

 

The oil is either going through the combustion cycle or is leaking out somewhere. Like a earlier poster said it's got to be going somewhere.

I would take a very detailed look around the engine bay and under the engine for signs of leaking. Burnt oil eesidue sludge etc. If you don't find anything, you might want to test the compression.
