Default Ebay cable bushing and shifter

i know i should be avoiding ebay at all cost when it comes to putting in parts that my life depends on. here is my dilemma:

NST cable bushing (stainless steel) = $22
CorSports bushing (6061 aluminum) = $30
www.speed-source.net bushing (6061 aluminum) same as CorSports = $26 shipped

Ebay 45% less throw short shifter (stainles steel) + cable bushing (6061 aluminum) + new bolt lock washer = $40 shipped

looks to me like Ebay wins. shifter is steel and if CorSports get's good reviews, then i am sure the aluminum bushing from ebay will work just as well. either way i am gonna pack a LOT of wheel bearing grease into them.

I will put the bushing in first to see how it feels. if it's still not as responsive as i like, i'll put the shifter in too.

What do you guys think?

Got a link to the auction?

I don't trust generic eBay shifters. Especially if the title has JDM in it, which I bet this one does.

ebay shifter installed and it feels great! i can feel my shifts and do it faster too. i also replaced the large pin with the lock washer with a bolt, washer and nut. works like a charm.

now need to install cable bushings.

i guess you didn't search much after all if you don't know the doc, he makes products for the scion tc and i personally got his gearswitcher premium (ss). it comes with cable and cage bushings w/ a 50% throw reduction and your choice of height reduction to 0" - 3.0"

check it out

i know about it. i just wasn't willing to pay the price for it. and since I have just installed the ebay short shifter and feels pretty good, i was confused in why you would mention the doc shifter.

Man, I have to tell ya...the N.S.T. bushings are awesome. I installed them on my car, and it's definitely one of those awesome mods on a budget. I recommend them big time, not to mention the best customer service in the business. :-D

I look at cheap ebay stuff and I always end up asking myself the same questions.

Did these guys design and test these parts on their own or did they just copy someone else?

If I buy from them, will they take the profits and design more products for my car or will they just run off and copy other products and dump more crap on the market?

Am I getting a quality brand that I can be proud of, or will I be telling my friends my car was built by ebay?

Support the companies that support our way of life, not companies that promote copycat business ethics and use of child labor in third world countries!

the install process is the same as any other short shifter. some ebay kits will come with the cage bushing. mine did. these are different from the cable bushings sold by corsport. as for the short shifter, removing the top cap thing that locks the middle pivot joint of the shifter was the hardest thing to remove. you have to slide a small screw driver into it to pry up on the clips that are holding it down.

i like it. it is a little stiffer than stock. the height is reduced about 3/4". the throw is significantly reduced. it feels like a rod shifter, but stiffer. just be sure to regrease the ball joint. I think i bought it from infinitiusa as well.

the corsports cable bushing makes your shift more crisp. I would get them if I were you. however. some ebay kits come with the cage bushing so I do not think it is economical to buy them seperately.

if you dont want them, that's fine too. why don't you try it out without, see if you like it and if not.. get them?
