Default Engine cut out during AutoX

Ok, so, I really have no idea what's going on... I didn't even know if the tC has traction/stability control or what, but if anyone has any insight on to what's going on please help:

I was Autocrossing today and, just like last year when I did it and this happened, whenever I go around a big sweeper and keep the pedal down at some point the engine just cuts out... well not really cuts out but I lose throttle response for a second or two then I'm ok... like the car is telling me something is wrong and taking control for a second.

What's going on? And how do I turn it off?

Well your problem is that its not getting fuel. You go around a huge corner at a good amount of speed and the gas slides to one side of the tank and the car doesnt get gas for a second. Im pretty sure thats whats happening. Its happened to me before

Only time it has ever happened to me is during autox events with under 1/4 tank. That is very common if running the fuel low like that. Not sure what is going on if it did it with a full tank.

I have no idea what would be causing that for you guys. There is no traction control, and as hard as I drive it in autox I have never experienced it, even after a 360 spin in the middle of a badly botched slalom

uhm... do you think that maybe your hitting the rev limiter???

i mean your taking corners pretty quick, nearly or completely breaking traction, pedal floored...

Our cars dont exactly have a rev limiter. Its a fuel cutoff

Yes, they do have a rev limiter. There is a rev limiter AND a speed limiter on the tC.

x2. sounds like he might be bouncing off the rev limiter and not even noticing it.

is the car an auto?

Sorry, I forgot to clarify my post... I meant at top speed there isnt a rev limiter. Its a fuel cutoff at 127mph and it feels like the car dies.

Not rev limiter... still happened when I made sure to only half-throttle it around the turn.

And I wasn't going 127 mph

Next time I'll make sure I have a FULL tank and I'll see if it happens again...

A rev limiter or speed limiter will cut fuel in order to do its thing, so it still has one. The speed limiter is just below the rev limit in 5th gear, which is why it occurs before the rev limiter is reached.

If you were autoxing, and in 2nd gear, I doubt too that it was the rev limit unless you spun a tire. I have yet to see any sharp turns (like you mentioned) in an autox event that the tC (or most cars) will take at 50 mph or so, where you will hit the limiter in 2nd. Obviously if someone designed a more stretched out course, you may see it, but probably more on the straighter sections.

You're experiencing fuel starvation during hard cornering. We had the same problem when we competed in the redline time attack last year at summit points, WV. We we're running Toyo 255 R888 r-comps on some tight downhill, off-camber turns when this occurred on our turbo'd tc. This was on almost 3/4 tank of gas. We were forced to run a full tank the following day during the main event and topping off the gas after every session. This will usually occurred on right-hand turns.

We are addressing this problem with our own custom fuel surge tank--for road racing. We may offer this fuel system upgrade for autoxing if there's a demand for it. On a relatively flat autox course, you should not experience this problem if you have at least 1/2 tank of gas, unless your car is pulling some serious G's.
