Default Engine Swap Question

So, long story short I bought an 06 Tc that had a blown head gasket, and I found an engine from a 2009 Tc to replace it. My question is, this should be an easy direct swap with no modifications required yes? I shouldn't need a different ECU or anything like that?

This is shooting from the hip but I think harness is different.

I got the engine from LKQ, the rep said they were interchangeable and didn't mention anything that would need to be changed, and from what I can see the engine codes are exactly the same.

I'm not 100% sure. I thought I remember my friend putting a harness in and it had 5 and the ecu had 4 or something like that.

4/5 connectors on harness and ecu **edit**

Exhaust manifold and MAF Sensor are different for 07+. I think the ECU's are all interchangeable, but the 07+ have gas cut off when you hit redline. Other than that, I don't think there are many other notable differences.

So all I need to buy are new headers and a MAF? I believe the longblock I got has the stock manifolds still present.

All tC headers have the same fitment, but they were slightly redesigned for 07+. So any tC header will work. I think the MAF sensor depends on the ECU, so you will need to buy a 07+ MAF sensor if you have an 07+ ECU, but if you have an older ECU then i think the older MAF will work? Someone please confirm or deny this.

Everything is interchangeable, just use everything from your 07 engine: sensors, intake, header and harness. There's no need to change anything, all your doing is switching out the engine. I know this because I swapped my 06 to an 2010 engine a while back.

One thing to check though is the timing chain cover, I had to take my old timing chain cover and transfer it to the newer engine as the engine mount bolts don't line up the same.

Wish I could look into this further with my car, but we hit a snag on the flippin axle nut... Drove to at least 7 different places before giving up and ordering the socket online.

Kik, so I'm okay with the factory ECU? the only thing that may need to be checked is my timing cover? just glancing between the two they look like they all mount in the same fashion. did you get an engine from a Tc2? That'd be nice to get the lower miles since they've been out for a shorter period of time and the extra 19hp wouldn't be bad either lol.

Yes, you'll be fine with your ECU, just swap everything over from your old engine to the new one. Just make sure the mount that bolts up to the timing chain cover works, if the mount doesn't bolt up to the new engine's timing chain cover, you'll need to swap your old one over.

I swapped my 06 tc1 engine for a 2010 tc1 engine. I'm fairly sure it's not possible to switch over to the tc2 engine as everything is different.

Sounds good, thanks for the info Kik! Did you even need to reflash your ecu?

the maf sensor is definitely different between 05-06 models and 07-10 models. Also, harness and ecu are different, 05-06 has 5 plug harness and 07-10 has 4 plug harness.

ECU, MAF, piston comp, oil squirters, ECU harness, header brackets, head bolts, there is more but that's what I remember. 2007 ECU was only 1 with fuel cut, that's when dyno changed for car company's and 2007+ had more whp.

Alright, so the swap was a complete success, after about 5 cranks the engine fired right up and everything is running smoothly.

I drove it around the entire day after finishing it up and near the end of my driving day got a P0113 code. Any ideas? It doesn't stall out and I know this is the IAT Sensor. Did you happen to get this code with your swap Kikaz?

It did seem to have some slight hesitation during acceleration, almost as if someone was pushing the car intermittently. Similar to clutch jerk but not near as severe, just enough to be noticeable.
