Default Which exhaust to get and why...?

Hey everyone,

I am new to this forum and to the modifying scene and I just got my tC a couple of months ago and now want to start modifying it, first of all with an exhaust. I have read quite a few posts about the HKS exhaust and a lot of people seem to like it, but I am confused about which exhaust to get and why. Please help because I have no idea what the differences are besides price. Thanks :o

These are what I was thinking (I want to stay under or around 450)

Injen exhaust: $315 + 15 shipping.

HKS exhaust: $360 + 37 shipping.
http://www.3n1motorsports.com/catalo...roducts_id=370

Greddy evo2 exhaust: $451 + 16 shipping.

I would get none of those since they are all axle-backs, or those wierd cat-back axle-back crap. Sorry but i dont have that much money to spend on some metal.

I would go custom if i was you.

First of all, welcome to the forum. I believe you will find the answers you are looking for here. There are a lot of great people in this forum. And congrats on your new tC...

I would go with the HKS exhaust...thats the one I have and I love it.

Funny, someone posted the same exact question as you did a little while ago.

Steve, I wouldnt recommend going custom if you dont mind spending the extra money and since you are very new to the "scene" I just think it would be easier to buy one of the exhausts you have listed.

I would suggust the TRD, Ingen or HKS if you don't plan on doing any additional mods to your exhaust system (ie - header, larger piping, new S-pipe, etc). If you plan on doing so, the HKS is the only one that sounds decent so far. The TRD and Ingen get raspy with a header installed. I haven't heard any or the DC or greddy exhausts yet so I can't comment on that. You can also go for a creativecompacts custom catback with your choice of muffler for a little bit more.

Consider a Full Kit or a Cat Back kit if you wanna notice any HP gains from your exhaust.

Custom setups are usually cheaper....

you are only paying for looks and sound...

it really depends on how loud you wanna go?

unless your going for performance...

I like my TRD...

I guess 3n1motorsports.com is selling K&N's newest CAI, the "TYFOON."

I have the DC Sport header and exhaust. I have pic in my profile. I like the fact that they prove their horsepower claims.

duals look cool, but I don't know if there is more than an aesthetic benefit to them. A straight pipe would be beneficial, especially for a turbo'd tC
