exhaust ?s
Does anyone know the technical difference between a resinator and a canister muffler? They look like they're the same thing to me, so I'm just curious...
Also I've got an axelback coming in the mail but I already have headers on. Below are pictures of the 33" Magnaflow resonator that I plan on using in a custom mid-pipe to kill rasp. Do you guys think that the resonator alone will get rid of the rasp from my headers or should I also invest in a highflow cat?

to tell the truth, I am almost worried that this beast of a resonator will make my exhaust too quiet lol...

I'm probably wrong, but I'd say the resonator 'resonates' and the muffler 'muffles'.
Don't worry though, that resonator won't make the car silent, it will get rid of most of the rasp, if not all of it.

okay thanks for the reassurance Carbon.
And SuchaCleantC, I'll tell you what, I'll try a mid with just my resy and if its too raspy for me I'll hit you up for that cat lol. I'll just have the shop leave room for one just in case :-)

lol, man you have been trying to get rid of that sh*t for ages now. I almost bough your spoiler a while back actually. If it didn't have that scratch on the back I would have taken it lol.
I tried to get a muffler shop to install that same 33 inch resonator and a 14 inch high flow cat. They said that the cat and the res might fit but it would be a tight fit and may hit the exhaust shield. They said to get it to fit they would have to leave the cat off and just install the res. Instead of leaveing the cat off and smelling like a go-kart I ordered a 14 inch long 5 inch round res. and had them install the cat and the res together.
The first 500 miles or so i had ZERO rasp, then it slowly started to come back. Now after about 6k miles have been put on.....I think its "broke in"because it hasnt got any louder. Only time it gets raspy is when your wide open in 1st and 2nd above 4k rpm and then its not bad, just a little crackly.
Over all it sounds pretty good though...

Heres the video after i had the 14 inch cat and 14 inch long 5 round res put on. How it sounds on the video is exacly how it sounds in person at the time. Only thing that sounds different now is the rasp i talked about in the post above. When i get a chance i will get another vid to contrast and compare.
