I noticed that some peoples exhausts that they buy start turning yellowish / brownish
after a while or so. Is it possible to polish that out or clean it somehow?

 

No. The only way to get rid of that would be to jet hot the whole exhaust. Otherwise that is just how it looks when its burnt

 

if u polish it, it will stay silver until u drive your car again...

but i think only titanium tips turning to yellow.. no?

 

Well I'm planning on buying a used OE-RS axle back portion from a member off of here on SL.

He sent me this pic.

 

mmm the hks hi-power that i had was yellowish on the part that says HKS HI-POWER so basically the whole tip.

That megan looks good. You cant even see the goldish part when its on the car anyways

 

actually you can, mine did the exact same thing but more of a gold color (in person, the pics screw it up).

 

megan just naturally turns gold. i have their s pipe and it looks like 18k gold

The gold is inevitable unless you jet coat it. Its simply a fact of life.

My turbo manifold did that and so did my polished 3" Ptuning turbo exhaust and my dezod downpipe.

Learn to live with the gold ish look people!

 

its natural and cant be removed unless coated like stated above.

 

mines started to turn yellow a little by where the 3" tip turns into the larger piece of the exhaust but i figure d that was from a combination of road salt, winter/snow, and rain

 

How long do you think your header will be that sexy gold? my MMW header was like that for about 2k miles... now it has a huge purple-blue spot.

 

How much would it be to coat a N1 style exhaust?

 

u need to wet sand it and repolish it... after that just polish it when u want it.. but it will stayt like that a few weeks.. after that some white spots will come back.. maybe dirt... but some polishing will get it out..

 

the yellowing cant really be helped. because most exhausts are made stainless steel or aluminum or coated titainium at the tips and canisters, its inevitable that it will start to oxidate or tarnish eventually (turn yellow although its most noticable on brass and copper things). even after polishing it will start to oxidate eventually after a few weeks or months. also, heat might quicken the processess so being a header or exhaust, its definitely normal for it to slowly change colors.
