Haven't been around in awhile, deployments, but I'm back.
As most of you know it is summer time. Here in good 'ol Fort Bragg, NC, it's been getting close to 100deg F already. Hot!! I've already been noticing my intake air temps have been to almost 130deg F already, Scan Gauge 2 read out. My mini-project/ query is to wrap my header and intake. Has anyone done both before? I know wrapping the header is common and provides great temp. reduction and maybe a few extra HP here and there thanks to reduced under hood temps. What about the intake though? Besides boosted motors, I've never really heard of anyone wrapping one. Would it be benifical to wrap it to help maintain intake temps. from ambient air and help reduce heat soak?

Don't wrap the intake with the same stuff as the exhaust, you can get intake specific wrap/cover from places like summit. The difference is intake wrapping is insulated with a protective layer plus an outer layer over that of a single layer exhaust wrapping. I wrapped my Grand Prix GT years ago, extremely simple to do. Exhaust wrapping is always benificial, intake is hit or miss. Wrapping the exhaust will help you free up some hp, intake might be worthless honestly.

Yeah. Didn't know they made specific stuff for intakes. Learn something new everyday. I just figured with almost 130deg F intake temps, even like 10-20degs F would help.
It will evaporate when the motor is running, the problem can be if moisture is ingested into a poorly wrapped header and it sits for a long time. They also sell sprays that you can use on the wrapping to help this.
