Default FEELER: GHL Exhaust System for tC from NAMotorsports

GHL Cat-Back or Axle-Back Exhaust Feeler Thread

We are currently working with GHL Motorsports on producing an exhaust system for the tC. In doing so, we would like some feedback from you on what you would like to see in an exhaust system for your tC. GHL can pretty much tailor this system to whatever needs are most desired. For those of you who are not familiar with GHL, they produce extremely nice exhaust systems for other makes such as:

Audi - Corvette - Ferrari - Porsche - Hummer - Volkswagen - and many more!

You can check out their website here: http://www.ghlmotorsports.com/

We are currently discussing production of both an axle-back and cat-back exhaust system. These systems would be 2.5" in diameter and and could feature a 3.5" or 4" round or angle-cut tip. Cost on these systems will be equivalent or less than the other systems currently on the market.

An initial concern expressed by GHL concerning a true cat-back system on a naturally aspirated motor is that there could be a slight power loss over stock due to a decrease in back pressure. The most free-flowing exhaust is not always the best performance-wise if there is too much loss in back pressure. However, a true cat-back exhaust could greatly benefit an engine with forced induction such as a turbo or supercharger.

Likewise, an axle-back system on a naturally aspirated motor is purely for looks and sound. The performance gains are very minimal.

There will of course be dyno runs on these systems once we get some initial feedback and work on a prototype.

We would like your feedback on the following. Overall, would you prefer?:

-Full cat-back OR axle-back

-Slightly louder than stock OR significantly louder than stock

-Straight-cut tip OR angle-cut tip (angles slightly inward from top to bottom)

We will be discussing your feedback with GHL before we ask them to go ahead and produce a prototype system. If you have any other suggestions regarding this topic, please feel free to post them as well. This has been a highly debated topic and we want some sincere user feedback before we go ahead and produce this system.

Thank you for your time and we look forward to getting this system into production.

-System for turbo and n/a cars
-As quiet as possible

GHL makes some very nice stuff, I have seen a few of their exhausts on corvettes and VWs, and they are sweet

Cat back, slightly louder than stock, either type of tip, no JDM slant for me though.

I say slightly louder than stock in hopes of a good sounding exhaust for use with a header.

Catback
Oval tip like stock
Sound like G35 or a little bit quieter version of TRD.
Maybe 2.75" diameter when I go FI.

Basically same set-up as TRD except it will be a catback. I like to take advantage of the existing heatshields under the car already.

JDM Angle'd
This is not GHL style. I dont think they would even consider making one like this.

Personally, I love the look of the stock system....something a tad louder and a few HPs would be nice.
