Ok so i want to get a mod done before this BBQ, planning on a pretty fat pay check (i work for sprint/nxtel and i sold double digits in phones this week) what should i do first; K&N intake, TRD Exhaust, or stainless steel headers?

IMO, exhaust first, then intake, then headers.

K&N CAI or exhaust.. but not TRD exhaust.

There's 3 things bad about the TRD axle back exhaust.
1. it doesn't give you much power (1-2hp)
2. it sounds TERRIBLE with any header
3. the price

Get the full megan s-pipe back exhaust for $300 + shipping. or the header for $240

I disagree.. I have nothing but compliments on my exhaust and header combo.. it sounds outstanding to me.. its not raspy at all.. its deep.. rich and loud.

what do you have between the header and the axleback? any cats/resonators?
ive heard a local with an AW header and a trd exhaust w/ a zpi s-pipe and a custom midpipe. loud and raspy dont even begin to describe it.

I only have the Megan Racing header, and just the TRD exhaust... now I cannot argue how it would sound with Spipe, etc... I can only vouch how it sounds currently with my setup..

As far as power goes, and price.. thats a different story.. obviously something aftermarket would probally be better if your aiming for more power.. I just wanted something that sounded good.. and not too crappy.. just my opinion folks

Hope you enjoy your purchase, which ever route you choose.

Unless you want a broken mounting bracket (which you cant replace without a motor mount) dont get the K&N. Do a search, me and many others have had the issue. And I can bet that some that dont think thiers is broken would find that it is if they look for it. I noticed mine rattled a bit more after about a month. I was doing some other stuff a few days later when I noticed it broken. Solid metal to metal mount on a moving part that has no other braces nearby (like the stock airbox does) mounted to a stamped peice of metal that sticks off the motor mount. Horrible design. Took it off until I make a new mount. I hear the Injen is better, although a couple have had the same issue with it.

TRD sounds awesome IMO. It is a little over priced though. And of course, NO axleback adds more than a couple of HP.

I have Injen CAI, and HKS Hi-Power axle back. Im happy with my combo, next is AW Header. Going by seat of the pants feel you cant really tell. But, im sure its a little quicker. A friend with a stock tC and me mess around every once and a while. I started to pull on him once i got the Injen CAI.

this is what i would do:

intake, headers, then exhaust..kinda to make it a sleeper, but once you get the exhaust peeps will know you have done somehting. however MR just came out with an OEM style exhaust, its a full cat back and its just awesome..it looks nice, sound nice, and can be purchased for less than 400...this is a cat back.

from the choices you have given I would go intake or header. If it were me I would go with a ligthened flywheel this way even if you decide to go boost later on you wont have to swap it out and stuff. Besides the flywheel helps shoot you through those rpms like a monster hehe.

Listen to engifineer and say no to the K&N intake! My bracket broke as well and eventually I'd say almost everyone elses will too; the mounting design is terrible.
