flat radiator hose (cont.)
Had a post up before about my top radiator hose flattening out after the engine cooled. Was told to check resovoir levels, radiator levels, and check both for clogs. Took it to dealership, they said my cooling system is fine & nothing's wrong or clogged. Only answer they had was the radiator cap wasn't venting properly and absolutely only buy OEM replacement ($12) or a $35 TRD cap. Did some research and found out OEM is rated @ .9 and TRD @ 1.3. It vents @ a higher temperature/pressure and apparently makes coolant more effective/efficient by making bubbles that occur during engine operation smaller so more coolant touches all the engine internals? However, this added pressure can eventually cause hoses to leak (if their stock), cause a heater core leak? Just looking for additional input. How much of a chance does this leaking have on my 63k mile tC if I do get a TRD cap? Yeah, I know, 35 pointless dollars spent, but I'll get +5bhp (bling-horse-power). Anybody know any junkyards around Pittsburgh that have tC's?[/quote]
