Default Fuel injector question.

So my tC hit 31,000 & change miles, and Toyota is telling me that I need a fuel injector cleaning service done. It's about $90.00. Another mechanic from a different establishment tells me that I should go ahead and get the service done, but I think he says this because he wants the business for himself ($70.00). A friend of mine says just run premium in my car a few times (fill ups). Another says that because most of the miles on my car are due to intestate driving, that my fuel injectors can't be in the state that Toyota says they're in, and that Toyota is B/Sing me. Finally, another friend said I should buy the best fuel injector cleaner (either Cheveron, or Valvoline), and run that with a full tank of premium, that supposedly this will knock it right out. What should I do...?

i work at a dealership...not toyota but they are all similar. im sure ur injectors arent that dirty, hes just suggesting preventitive maintainance as per your mileage. and as for ur friend....highway miles or low throttle cruising will gum up the fuel system pretty good.

what hes recommending is prob a "fuel induction tune" judging from the price.
its a 3 part cleaner, we put one chemical into the tank (basic injector cleaner u can buy from advance). the 2nd goes into a dispensing canister that we hook up to the fuel rail and it gets fed into the injectors directly (high power cleaner ive never seen over the counter) the 3rd is a throttle cleaning spray that we spray into the intake when the car is running to clean carbon out of the manifold

Thanks for the info. Do you suggest I do it, or should I just buy the Valvoline injector cleaner, and fill it up with premium....?

i had a chevy silverado that needed injectors celaen at 33000, so i'd go ahead and get the injector cleaner over the counter...i mean its like 7 bucks, it cant hurt....and in a few more thousand...like 40ish, take it the dealer to get injectors cleaned if you need to
