ok, i wanted a little more power at a very low cost. right now with the holidays fast approching money, as most of you know, is very tight. so i was reading through the forums and found that ZPI made more than 20 hp by removing the botom of the intake box with the SC package.
i wanted to find out if this worked onthe N/A side. well guess what, it sure does. it is a little gheto till i can make a more complete mod out of it but all i did was remove the bottom of the air box and zip tie the filter to the reciver side.
i know what it sounds like but na sayers, try it. do it and drive around for a while. you will be amazed. you get the intake sound and power for about $3.00 for zip ties.
double post warning, i have searched this forum up and down and have not found anyone who has done this yet.

Get some couplers and a hose and replace the portion between the throttle body and the part that holds the MAF. That will replace the sound baffling of the OEM intake tract with a smooth hose and hopefully that'll net you a horse or two.
Half inch insulation tape from Lowe's - $9
K&N filter from ajusa.com - $35
Removing lower piping - $0
Increasing size of opening of airbox inlet hole- $0
And now, you've got a basic SRI that actually rejects heat. Mine stays nearly ambient to the touch even after considerable driving.
Power increase has been noted, and now its F'ing LOUD when i get on the throttle. Much louder and deeper than my friend's tC with Injen CAI. Sounds like a quiet exhaust coming from under the hood.. but looks pretty geeeehhhhheeeettto
In addition... its totally silent with regular daily driving. It only howls above 50% throttle.
AND, I still qualify for H-stock

Stock filter is as thick as a pack of panty-liners. One site got 2 whp just by removing it. If you dont want to shell out a whopping $35 for a K&N, then try a $5 FRAM, or just run without a filter for an extremely limited amount of time (like, one race, TOPS.)
