Glass Header???
Has anyone heard anything of a company or companies making a clear glass header? I know it sounds crazy but I was at a Scion Backstage event and this guy was telling me that they were making a glass header and that it was strong enough for a dump truck to run over it. Also said that it would glow at night. It sounds like itd be freakin awesome but I havent heard anything of it. I thought he meant the glass radiator hose but he insisted it was the header.

1) After a few minutes or maybe hours of use, the carbon build up inside the glass would make it as opaque as a metal header, defeating the purpose.
2) Metal on glass is a bad thing, and leads to scratches, cracks, etc. You can get away with this in mostly stationary things like tables because, well, they're stationary. But add movement into the equation, and the metal will rub against the glass, eventually causing it to fail.
3) The exhaust heat combined with the movement of the engine and car would probably cause the header to disfigure itself in high stress situations.
All in all, I don't think glass headers are possible.

Dude, didn't you know you're not supposed to do that in a glass house...
Anyways, I can see the point of a glass header. Glass is a lot more efficient at keeping heat in a certain area than metal is. Even with the carbon buildup and whatnot, it'd still maintain really high heat conservation throughout the system.
So I think I'm gonna try fabricating an exhaust out of my old Cup o' Noodles. I'll post a DIY when it's done.
