Be sure to wipe it down with alcohol before it gets hot... mine's now brown from the finger smudges.

i have mech gloves, but I read to clean the header with vinegar to get rid of hand oil.

this will set off the CEL right? then your car goes into limp mode right? and then wont funciton correctly right? sorry for the questions..but i can get this header for 200 bucks, and i want to know what i should do

 

Did you purchase an anti-fouler? it doesn't always works, but its worth the a try, I have it on mine and no CEL, but I also have the ZPI s-pipe, so this might make a differance.

 

why would a s pipe make a difference? would the MR s pipe make a difference

 

It made a difference for me, at first I installed the meagn header with along with the antifouler and no s-pipe and I got a CEL(80 miles later), then 2, 3 days later I installed the s-pipe, reseted the ecu and no more CEL(its well over 15K miles, maybe even more since), made a difference for me, not sure about everybody else. As for the MR s-pipe making a difference, don't know? it might, mine is the ZPI s-pipe, but the MR one might fit better since its made by the same company.

 

do you have to reset the ECU? wont toyota get mad and possibly void the warranty

 

Well, the way I did it was by disconnecting the battery + and - terminal, left it like that for like 20 min. maybe even more, now lets say something gets all jacked up with your enine, the dealer has to prove that the after market product in this case is the header, cuased the problem, they can't just pop your hood look inside and say, " yup the header caused it, warranty voided", they have to do tests and probe it.

Welds are not clean and pipe smells used hopefully from testing and not a return. It isn't pretty,but no ones gonna see it.

 

Yeah, mine was kinda like too, but it has worked out fine.

 

You won't hit limp mode if you don't do the antifouler and get a CEL... it's solely a emissions sensor.... you'll just have an annoying light... just undo your negative terminal when you do the install and antifouler mod and rehook it up and idle it for 10 minutes and you should be CEL free...

It'd take a lot for a deal to "Void" a warranty for a header...

Sorry to hear that man, why? because of your drill bit? or because you have nothing steady to hold on to?
