Default Ground Fusion Questions

Hi all,

I just finished installing my Ground Fusion grounding wires kit and I am left with a couple of questions.

1. First of all, I looked at some pictures online after installing my wires and I noticed a difference on one of the grounding points. In the following picture, Ground E has been positioned on the side of the engine block, but I used the bolt on the top of the engine block (about one or two inches higher - you can sort of see it in this picture, where the D line is pointing). I just wondered, if I will screw anything up or lose any of the benefit if I am using the wrong bolt.

2. Also, I didn't feel particularly comfortable about using the ground point on the engine block. I assume the bolt which I removed was holding the engine block together, so what if it works itself out over time?

3. Also, are the Ground Fusion wires heat resistant? I assume they would be, but I wanted to make sure because a couple of them have permanent contact with the engine block.

4. And finally, is there any loss of benefit if I don't tighten the bolts enough? I used my socket wrench to tighten most of them, but then I broke the socket (the metal socket) into 3 pieces by pulling too hard, so I had to tighten the last two bolts by hand.

Thanks!

Oh, and another thing...

5. When a point has two wires, does it matter which wire has direct contact with the grounding point? For example, on the first grounding point, I believe it should be wire #1 touching the metal grounding point, then wire #2 on top, then the nut. Does it make a difference if the wires are not ordered. On the point with 3 wires, I didn't put them in any particular order.

OK Here goes... If I make any retarted statements or someone wants to slam me for saying something wrong... feel free. (just be gentle )

1. Depending on what your supposed to be grounding with that wire it shouldn't matter too matter too much as to where you put it, if it's that close. I don't think you will mess anything up by taking that bolt out.

2. There isn't a "specific" bolt holding the engine block together. It's technically a large piece of metal and unless they we're asking you to ground it to a head bolt (which we all know would be extremely wrong and literally impossible) you should be ok. Judging by the picture that bolt is a bracket for the plug anyways.

3. Yes I'm sure no matter which wires you got (Stinger, Etc.) they are heat resistant. On a more personal note, though, I myself would be worried about wires touching the block as well.

4. Yes there is loss of benefiet and it can do major harm. With the aftermarket ground wires you should be ok but they should still be tight. Now, if you loosened any of your stock ground wires you can do severe damage. Electricity in the coolant, or electrolysis (I think) can actually damage your aluminum block fairly easy. The grounds help keep minimal electricity in the coolant as it runs through your engine block. If you ever want to see, take a dvom on DC voltage setting and stick one end in your coolant with the car running and the other to ground and see what your running. Do this under the radiator cap. Pull it off before you start it and put it back on before you shut the car off. Anything under like 7 tenths of a volt you should be ok. I know my car is running at like .1 or even lower.

5. As for this... I would say if your adding a new wire to a grounding point, just leave them in the same order and slap your new wire right on top. That will make sure that thoes wires needing that excellent ground will still have it.

Sorry its so long but I hope it helps! If you have any more questions feel free to pm me.

any loss of benefit

For there to be a loss, you would've had to have gained something in the first place.

Yeah... as youll find there are people on here who think differently about the grounding kits. As for me, I will prolly do this mod in the future some time, but most will argue against it having any advantage at all...

The only possible reason would be if you're running competition-level audio systems.

I've heard that suby guys love it...

from what i've heard, you have smoother idling, faster throttle response, cleaner audio...

i'd pay $100 bucks for that...

It seems to depend on who you talk to. Many people will argue they work. and many will argue they wont. Personally I believe its got to do SOMETHING, wether its noticable or not... But it also looks cool under the hood.

Oh man, I forgot about this thread. Well I asked the questions about 5 months ago, but thanks for the long reply anyway.

But yeah, there is definitely a benefit. This mod has been worth every penny. My idle has been lower and more consistent - it used to be a couple hundred RPM higher and it used to jump around more. Shifting of my automatic transmission became smoother. This also fixed some of the complaints I had about the tC's touchy throttle.

Well I would do it with stinger wire anyways so It would cost a little more than 15$... But under the circumstances Ill just order it and get all of it at once.

Well... I've always used stinger and I'm happy with the results I've gotten. I also like the color of it.
