Default HARD BRAKING noise HELP!! asap!

ok so i just changed my stock brakes, and rotors off, for some rotor pro's rotors and axxis deluxxe pads... and everything was installed properly, i took it for a spin up my road.. braking was good, normal sound with new equip,(when u have some oxidation on your rotors from not driving it, then you brake) ya that sound, which is expected..

but then i SLAMMED on my brakes and it make like this noise, kinda like if something was maybe too tight?? but not like a popping noise. i slammed on my brakes a bunch of times there after and the same noise..

whats the problem?????

Um... I don't think you're supposed to slam on your brakes for a while right after you change pads and rotors... you could be making a small problem worse. I think there's a bit of a "break in" period with new brakes that you're supposed to take it easy. I forget what the real word for it is though...

yaa i know i just realized that after like 4 stomps on the brakes.. but i just got done driving it around for about 20 miles or so, and the pads are starting to slowly get "broken in"

Actually you are supposed to heat the brakes up real well afterward. That is the bed-in process. Check it out on stoptechs website.

I have rotorpro rotors with deluxes in the rear and I didn't have that problem. It must be something with the install. Check all of your work. The caliper bolts should be torqued properly to 25lbs. Other than that.....did you compress the caliper properly after removing the old pads? hmmm

Ya, heating them up is one thing, but you still shouldn't just slam on them... at least I don't think I would.

ya everything was tightened, i didnt use a torque wrench, but everything is snug, the caliper was compressed all the way, then i worked the brake once everything was snug...

i read up on the brake install post that was on one of these pages somewhere, and it says to "avoid hard braking the first 100 miles" so im asuming slamming on them 4 times right after there installed not even a mile, might have made that sound...

and it was coming from the front

if anything the bolts are TOO tight, but again the caliper pushes out on the pad which makes contact with the faces of the rotors.. so i think i just need to take it easy on them some more.. i should know by tomorrow i should put atleast 100 miles on from today till tomorrow with goin out tonight

Take a look here:

http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_bedinstock.shtml

You are really supposed to get on them at first to heat them up, but never actually bring it to a stop. Some people who don't do a bed-in process say to take it easy on them for the first $100, but stoptech really insists that the bed-in is crucial, and well, I take their word for it.

My helped my stepdad with his brake install. He threw on axxis deluxe pads with brembo plain rotors. He didn't bed them in. He has been squeaking ever since. I don't...that was enough evidence for me.

so i put on 114 miles since the install yesterday, and im almost 100% positive it was the "break-in" process... b/c i slammed on them today , and no noise what so ever, my pops took the wheels off and checked all the brakes this morning before i took the car out for a spin and a "stomp check" and that noise is gone
