Has anyone?

yeah, people have using piggyback ecu's like emanage and unichip, but for the money you spend on the piggyback and the time tuning it, you don't make alot of power. i think like 12 whp with your standard supporting bolt-ons like cai, header and exhaust.

I have never adjusted my timing however, when i blew a motor in a celica GT-S.... 7 grand later.... i know it took them a long time to adjust the timing due to the lift the gt-s have. I know toyotas VVT-i or variable valve timing is hard to get right and really shouldnt be messed with unless crazy tuned?

oh like...i think 400 for the uni, another couple hundred if you want a plug and play harness instead of slicing the wires...then it depends on the rates in your area for doing a dynotune, how good the guy is and how long it takes him.

yeah, but the worst part is that the tc's ecu is a learning ecu, and the tune from the piggyback will lose its effectivness, so the 12 whp gain will go back down to zero, at which point i suppose you can either retune, or reset the ecu to make the car forget what it learned.

well, you'd get the same gains, but since you have a standalone, you have completely replaced the ECU, so the tune is permanent.
but a standalone costs 2 grand, and it takes alot longer to tune a full standalone ems.
