Default header question

I just bought an 06 tC and it has a header in it. the 'check engine' light it on but i will fix it, but what i wanted to know is if headers damage the engine or the catolitic converter?
Thanks

welcome to scionlife, please search.

the CEL is probably on because because the stock header is where the primary catalytic convertor is located. but the aftermarket header doesn't have a catalytic convertor, so the secondary o2 sensor see that there is no catalytic convertor and thinks there is something wrong.

to make this go away, you need to use some sort of anti-fouler, so go search for an anti-fouler.

no. so long as the CEL is only on to indicate that there is no catalytic convertor present.
