Thinking about getting Megan racing header with an Invidia S-pipe, what y'all think?? Any advises?

if anything get the megan midpipe or do what i did and replace the stock resonator get the shortest possible resonator from magnaflow.

u know where to get the magnaflow resonator? btw, midpipe is the same as Spipe right?

the s-pipe is after the header and then it's the midpipe, i agree on the no for the headers because of the rasp and it will not sound clean. buying the megan midpipe will be better if you still want the clean sound yet louder than it currently is, now if you want you can get an aftermarket s-pipe because the stock one is the most restrictive part of the whole exhaust system but the s-pipe will not make it louder unlike the midpipe.

thanks acid, but i've heard that header can push a little bit hp for ur car, i'm planning to run I/H/E, but yea i'll reconsider about the header

i've pretty much done every n/a on mine and the header did push abit more than the midpipe but it all depends what your goals are for wanting headers on the car and also you can add a resonator on the midpipe to get rid of the rasp but it will get quieter but will sound better than before.

For stock midpipe: replace the stock resonator for a vibrant ultra quite resonator and one more 14" magnaflow resonator. then you will be fine

If you want sound...just get the Axle-Back and call it a day, which you have and a Injen CAI.

To be honest, a header will give you headaches once you hear the rasp.

Youtube it and tell me different. If you're looking for HP gains, unless you're going to actually boost it, you're just waiting money.

The money you would spend on a header, just get some nice lowering springs from the Classifieds and keep on keepin' on.

A header and s-pipe will not create rasp unless you add an aftermarket exhaust.
None of which will net appreciable performance gains.
Once you change from stock exhaust, don't get a header.

Is this really true? Can anyone else say the same? See I just got a raceland header and an s-pipe and I have been reading that no matter what header you install, it will cause rasp. If i do install the header it will be with the stock exhaust. Right now I have a cold air intake from raceland and it sounds awesome. I wanted the header for the look and possibly performance...but if it is raspy then I'm going to return it. I was actually going to take it back today till i just saw the above comment. If a header with the stock muffler/exhaust doesnt cause rasp, I'll keep it and install it. I just need this confirmed.

That video looks like it has an after market exhaust. What about a stock exhaust???

Just do it and you'll find out for yourself, there are numerous threads on this site that explain how the addition of a header to the stock exhaust does nothing to the exhaust note nor will an spipe change anything, all you have to do is search the forum.

My exhaust build beginning to end:
Alphawerks header
Invidia Downpipe
Magnaflow (mid-pipe) Cat
Resinator (can't remember size, not the stock size)
Dual Magnaflow Mufflers

I had rasp before I had the supercharger, afterwards it's all but gone.
I only get rasp when she's cold and above 5500rpm
But I also know of a few loose connections that I need to tighten and replace the joint flanges with better ones.

if your thinking of running N/A you better get a piggy back or a stand alone. your not going to get any noticeable gain from the factory ecu( some people will argue this though). That ecu is fully squeeze out of its efficiency.... The piggy or stand will alter that and create more possibility of getting what you need for power.

If you want to get more power, you will have to go with FI, its expensive but that will give you the power that you want. P-tuning and dezod makes some good kits for the tc.

for sound: i say dont do it. its going to be super raspy. and you will be called a ricer ;) when you take the header out, your taking the main cat. that cat absorbs the vibrations( high pitch sound) coming out of the engine. when you take that off, high frequency travels through the pipe creating a high pitch vibrating sound. hence the nasty rasp :O

get an axle back and call it a day if you want a nice deep sounds. preferably an HKS or trd. i personally like the HKS, it has a nice deep sound you can also go the custom rout. that means running a resonator, cherry bomb or a custom glass pack( preferably more than 12") to compensate for the missing cat.

Thank you datswhtshsed. A simple answer like that was all i needed. It was also what I was thinkin it was going to do. I'll just return the header then and put it into something else. And Ecko04. I tried the search feature and got tons of threads, cool, but non of which had the same setup as me. Thanks
