Header for the tC?
o2 sensor "cheaters" can be used to trick the PCM and keep the CEL off.
They're generally just a resistor jumped inline with the signal wires,
and it keeps the PCM from getting the signal that would tell it to throw the light.

Hi Nikolas - I sent you an email.
I have a 2002 Toyota Solara 4-cylinder (same engine as the Scion tC - 2AZ-FE). I have been searching for headers for a long time, and I have not seen any released for this engine.
If you create headers for the 2AZ-FE, I would be interested in purchasing them - especially if they are Race Headers :D as mentioned in your post.
Thanks

I noticed you said the first header will most likely be a "Racing Header"? So does that mean that you plan on releasing a "street legal" one. Since you are based in Cali, I'm sure you're familiar with CARB.
Any chance of a CARB Legal one?
Also, I live in So. Cal. I recently sold my Corolla S and plan on getting a tC. Not sure how soon though.

That is correct, the first header will be a "race header" with no integrated cat.
Even if we build a header with a high flow cat integrated, it will take a decent amount of time and money to put the header through the CARB testing procedures. If we do create a CARB legal header for the tC engine, you can expect the cost of the header to be substantially more than a non CARB approved header. But at least you will have the peace of mind of having a street legal modification installed.
The person who bought their tC and contacted us said he should be picking up his tC this week sometime. We will more than likely dyno the car on July 17th (everyone is welcome to stop by for our $50 Dyno Day at R&D Dyno in Gardena, CA). We want to get a baseline on Horsepower and Torque before we begin development of a header for this car.

There is alot of talk about a header for the N/A motor but what about those of us that will have the S/C installed on the cars? i know that the stock header will only cause bottle neck in the system with the stock header so a aftermarket one would great. thanks

RE: Supercharger
Our header will work on engines that have a Super Charger installed or not. For those people who opt for the dealer installed SC and later install our header, they will be in for one heck of a Horse Power increase.
We are wrapping up our production of headers for the Mazda6i right now. I hope to get the donor tC into our shop for prototyping in the next few weeks. I will keep everyone posted.

Currently our headers sell for between $350-$400. It really depends on how large the header is and how much labor will go into the fabrication of each. Ceramic coating costs will also go up if the unit is large.

This guy is also pretty well thought of at a Focus board called Focaljet.com, and most of the regulars there do not suffer fools lightly.
Gobstopper,
That is correct about the FocalJet crowd..... they can be rough at times. But, towards those who deserve it. ;)
The July 17th Dyno has had to be called off. a few of the cars we had slated for testing wont be ready by tomorrow. Hopefully we can re-schedule a dyno session for early-mid August.
The dyno session being delayed wont delay progress on our development of parts for the Scion.

Does anyone have pictures of the underside of the tC? I am curious to see the layout/design of the factory exhaust system as well as how the factory exhaust manifold is routed.

i don't know about pics but if you go to scion.com and go to build your own there is a 3d model of the car. you can spin the car and even look underneath it. granted, i don't know how detailed it is or how much detail you need but it might be what you are looking for.
Thanks for that link, it helped me out a little bit and gave me a good idea.
Here are links to pics from a 2.4L Camry... They are about 1MB each, so 56k beware. If someone could post pics of the down pipe, flanges, etc.....just like are pictured here... from a tC, that would be great.

We are hoping that the we can design one header that will support the Scion tC, the Camry and the Solara.

We are currently having the header flanges laser cut at the moment. Once we get the flanges back then we can begin fabricating the first prototypes. Im hoping we dont see any delays with the delivery of the flanges.

will the header be of a 4-1 or a 4-2-1 style ? Im just curious, Ive been designing and building headers professionally for the last 6 years and have my own opinions of both, I will also have a TC header available very soon, maybe we can put together a friendly little "header shootout", that would be fun!
thanx Jason
