Ive been reading posts and most people combine headers with an S pipe and cat back exhaust but if i just put headers in with my TRD exhaust will i still see a increase in performance. Also does it sound a lot different?

 

You should see some improvement... and it will probably sound like crap. Lots of rasp. You will more than likely need a bit fat resonator installed in your midpipe.

 

I have the mmw header and spipe combo with the trd exhaust and it sounds fine..i get compliments on it all the time.

Of course thats the with the mmw header..the brands tend to make our cars sound like weed whackers without a resonator

 

I just hate the riced out sound of the cat back exhaust and the sewer pipe look. Is there any exhaust that sounds similar to the TRD one and is on the thinner side like a megan exhaust.

i have noticable gains power wise with the MMW header,SRI intake and still the TRD exhaust......pulls hard now.....problem with the header especially the MMW with TRD is it sounds horrid without resonators or large resonator.......mine now has 2 12 inch resonators piggybacked in place of the stock resonator and it sounds just liek it did before the header install......swapping out the TRD muffler to Greddy tic soon.....

 

TRD exhaust is no good. only sound. no performance. just as restricted as the factory exhaust. just a sound product. very raspy with header. probably the worst exhaust to go with for header. no matter what u do there is still rasp. also when i went from the TRD to my new tanabe def felt more power. i could def tell that something was holding it back when i had the TRD on compared to the new Tanabe concept g. <<<< excellent product by the way.

 

trd exhaust blows, i think for sound and looks. and it is the worst exhaust to combine with the header, search the forum there are endless threads on hearders,

in a nuthsell:
get ready for loud ___ rasp
get ready to put 1 or 2 resonators on the mid pipe
get a non trd exhaust

 

What exhausts don't sound like rice then because I hate that sound more than anything.

 

well all will with a header before work is done, a catback would be the best bet with 2 resonators on the mid pipe,

you could also get something custom at a muffler shop that way u can choose the muffler and look and everything and will prolly be cheaper, and they will put the resonators on for ya
