First off how did you hyrdolock your motor? U gotta be pretty stupid to do this. Im sorry im not trying to be an jerk but unless you drive through a 1ft puddle or deeper its like inpossible. i have never had a problem in the rain ever with a CAI a few droplets dotn hydrolock your motor. I live in Seattle and i have an Injen CAI and i removed the vent for better airflow. i also had an AEM intake in my old car and it didnt have a plastic uncarriage gaurd like our cars do and i lived in sonoma county in cali where it rained like crazy in 2005 and 2006. Plus how do you hydrolock a transmission? someone please explain cause that sounds like bull.
Let's not beat the hydrolock thing to death. If you have a CAI and it's wet outside, you have a 50/50 chance of getting hydrolocked: you either will or you won't.
To the OP, your mechanic is full of crap. Flee, immediately. I wouldn't even know where to begin troubleshooting this-- with any motor swap, the amount of things that can go wrong is staggering.

1- Your TRANSMISSION cannot be hydrolocked. In fact, the whole thing (more or less) is bathed in transmission fluid. In cases of hydrolock, damage occurs in the valves, pistons, crankshaft, rods, block... pretty much in that order, yet varies car-to-car.
2- There are a ton of factors that go into this.. If you hydrolocked, there was a LOT of water, and my first guess is electrical / spark... so... Distributor? Replace the plugs (he should have)? Lines? Fuses?
Once all sparks are confirmed - What about electricals to the fuel pump and fuel injectors?
Then... is the starter any good?
There's here I'd start... but first thing you need to do, is get a better mechanic... or just confirm that you didn't hear him incorrectly. I think something simply isn't plugged in right.

this guy called me this morning and he said reason why he was saying that he could turn crank pulley before he put transmission but when he put transmission on new motor he couldn't turn crank pulley. WTF!!!
Worlds stupidest question........is the car in park or Neutral..........it is possibible to get water in the auto tranny but it should not hurt a thing.......drain fill drain fill and it will evaporate.......the auto tranny has a breather tube connected to the dipstick that is only place water could have gotten into it from........

... Seriously?
And the starter is turning over? --(making rum rum rum noises ?)
Get him to start the car without transmission connected. If he can do that first, then we move forward to diagnosing the tranny.
It is possible that the shock wave of the hydrolocking event made it all the way downstream to the transmission, but it's far more likely that it took out the head. As soon as that pressure's relieved, then the worst of the damage is over.
Which... of course, isn't an issue now, since you got a new motor.
