Default Help Installing HKS Exhaust

Ok. I'm trying to take off my old exhaust so I can instasll my HKS tomorrow..and there are two bolts that are right near the end of the axleback, that have spring-type things on them. I tried turning them and letting WD40 soak on them, but they are still very very tight.

Any help getting these off? My dad is wanting to take it into the dealer and have them install it, but I don't want him to waste $100ish on a stupid thing like that.

Please help!

it shouldnt be to hard. I think it should take about 10 miutes to change exhausts. Thats what it took me atleast. Just turn harder.

if you have to pull on the wrench extremely hard, then yes I would say counter push on the exhaust so that you dont rip the whole thing out of the car.

yea its not that hard if you contin ue to have problems...soak the bolts in wd40 and let sit for about an hour then do it again. after the second soak and waiting try taking it off at that time. hold the midpipe then turn.

I know how you feel. I had that same problem with those bolts. Tight as anything, just pull really hard

Well my dad is just going to have the dealer put it on tomorrow.

I'm through trying to talk him out of it bc we just get into arguments about "breaking" things.

The bolts are probably on there good from some rust.

Go to your auto store and ask them for this spray (forgot whats its called but they should know) it will eat through rust and works 10x better than WD40.

I just installed my friends Greddy EVO2 and had the same problem but the spray worked like a charm.

I hear that PB Blaster is useful, is that what you're thinking of?

its only hard to turn because the springs put tension on the bolts. just spray a lot wd40 and continue with a 1/2 inch (cause they are a little longer than a 3/8 inch. there is nothing to break just unbolt remove and replace then tighten the new exhaust. its the easiest mod to do on a car.

Well, my Dad seems liek its going to be easier to pay the dealer mechanic $50 under the table....IE so the dealer isn't charging us $150.

Kinda stupid/waste of money? Eh?

Oh well, its still getting installed

thats funny, my old man would have told me to suck it up and do it myself then ask me why and how my knuckles got so scabbed up. lol oh yesss my ZPI exhaust made me bleed and burned myself a few times too. if i remember right theres one or two sets of screws that the actual nut was WELDED onto the exhaust. all you could twist was the actual screw. check it out
