Default Help with NST 20% Underdrive Pulley!!!

hey.... K060737 doesn't exist and I purchased K060739 and it does NOT work...it's too short to use with the 20% underdrive crank pulley only. I have seen others use the 739 belt but that's because they got the smaller alternator pulley too so it fit for them.

What belt do I need? I have a 2008 Scion tC w/ JUST the 20% underdrive crank pulley. Please let me know ASAP because my car is torn apart and sitting on jack stands right now. Thank you.

NST REALLY needs to get the correct info on their website.......that's pretty ridiculous that they say I need a belt that cannot be purchased because it doesn't exist!

Thank you guys!

Looking at the number, K060737 for example...

K06 is a universal designation for a 6 rib belt that will be measured in US standards. Meaning it will be followed by a number measured in inches.

0737 is the measurement in inches. Meaning 73.7 inches. Gates often comes to mind because Gates is the most recognized name in belts.

So if your inexperienced auto parts store guy has a dumb look on his face when you say K060737 then you can tell him you need a 6rib belt that is 73.7inches.

737 can't be right because the 739 is too short and it's 74.5" according to the packaging and online.

thank you for the help though

I think I'm going to try either K060744 which is 75" long or K060747 which is 75 3/8" long or the K060750 which is 75 5/8" long. The factory belt is right at 76"...so I'm leaning toward the 747 belt which is the belt that NST recommends for the 05-06 tC's. I'm wondering if they just made a typo on their website and meant to type 747 and not 737. Just a thought......

I was doing research and it seems like other ScionLife users with 07+ tC's are using 739 since 737 doesn't seem to exist.

I know it's a tight fit, but you will be able to get it on. I needed 3 people when I installed mine. (i have an 05 though)

And as far as the alternater pulley, the NST one is the same size, just lighter.

The 737 will NOT go on..trust me..it's too short. Even if you COULD force it on, the tensioner would stay forward, it wouldn't be able to retract back into place and that's not good. Also..the NST alternator pulley looks smaller here:
This taken from the tech. section how-to:

Step 17 -

Stare amazed at the size difference and how light it is compared to stock

i have tried both setups and its not just guessing its what will work

Can you provide a link to where I can buy the 740 belt? Because it appears that one doesn't exist either.....

So...NOBODY knows?????? This is crazy..I am just going to return the thing...maybe someday NST will just sell the damn belts with their pulleys...that'd make SO much more sense instead of telling their customers to go running around to autoparts stores trying to find belts that don't exist.

First, thank you for interest in our site and products, we appreciate it.

We list K060739 because this is the belt that our 07-08 customers have been using since early 2007. This belt has been used by both those who use only our Underdrive Crank Pulley, and those using the full NST set, who own the 07-08 tC.

K060737 is a bit shorter, but it can also be used, and is available in certain parts of the country.

Owners of the 05-06 tC should use the belt number listed on our website for their applications.

You should be able to order these belts at your local AutoZone, PepBoys, Napa, Oreilly, etc.

Thanks again, good luck and have fun with your project!

Autozone doesn't carry the Gates brand...so you can't go there. And I called the Gates customer service and they told me that the 060737 did NOT exist....Also, the Gates belt I got (K060739) measured just under 74" (despite the package and their website stating it was 74 1/2" long). So I ended up getting a Goodyear Gatorback belt #4060745 which was a true 74 1/2" and worked like a champ and it is 1/2 the price of the Gates belts (Gates = $43, Gatorback = $22).

So to sum it up...Gates 060739 does NOT work but Goodyear Gatorback 4060745 DOES work.

A lot of gas was wasted going back and forth to auto parts stores...this should not have been this way. If you're going to sell the pulley, sell the belt to match it too.....don't make your customers go running all over town trying to find belts that don't fit / exist.
