To elaborate on my post, you don't really need it, it's not an overly loud exhaust, it has the same sound of a G35/350z, except a bit deeper and a little louder. Under idle you can't hear it at all, unless you specifically listen for it, then it just sounds like you're up real close to the stock exhaust. Under highway cruising, it's not a droning noise, although there is a little noise emitted from the HKS exhaust, it is easily covered up by rolled up windows or music.

 

Nope, but I bought the HKS silencer separately and used it for 10 minutes. It works, but I prefer to set off car alarms as I drive by . Let me know if anyone is interested in one.

i just bought mine today... so i was just wondering.. ic... anyways... for the ppl who installed it.. how did u take the 2 bolts off... i cant take it off... i used wrench and tried WD-40... and try to loosen it.. it aint working.. some1 help.. oh btw i bought it for 345 :D

 

Try using a socket with a breaker bar instead of a wrench. Sorry if this sounds stupid, but you are turning the bolts counter-clockwise right?

 

yes.. iam turning counter clockwise... btw did u use a breaker bar or did it just come offf???... for somereason... i think some1 like supered glue mine... i cant take that ____ off... does it have anything to do with the spring thats inbetween??

I have been looking for what my first mod on my xA will be. I like the idea of a more throaty sounding exhaust but as I look into it I am getting concerned about power changes. I have seen more than one ad for aftermarket axleback systems that say "increases HP from 4000 without significantly decreasing lowend torque". I like my Scion but at 108HP it can't afford any decrease in lowend torque. What is the physics behind and exhaust that was adversely affect torque and what mod would I make if I wanted to increase performance and drove mostly under 5K.

I was probably the first one with the exhaust on these fourms and I LOVE IT... im sure everyone else that has it can say the same... I heard the TRD in person this past weekend at the car show and it sounded like ___.... im so glad i got this exhaust... I love the gangsta angle it has...

How does the exhaust sit, when looking at it from the back? Is it tilted to one angle abit, or does it exit like the the injen and Magna Flow I've seen.

Im sure the exhaust has a slight tilt. HKS is known for nicely angled exhaust systems.

I love tilts on exhaust systems. Mine has a tilt.
